Tour pak 12V outlet - anyone done it?

I have seen the kit for the 12V outlet in an aftermarket catalog, but I want to do my own.
I got a 12V outlet with cover from Radio Hack and found a good spot for it in the Tour Pak liner (Left rear corner, just under the tail light connector).

What I would like to know is what wires the aftermarket kit plugs into. I think it would be the tail light wiring, as it comes on with the ignition, but it seems like the power capacity would be weak.

All I need to power is a USB type cellphone charger and maybe run a laptop if there's enough capacity.
I did pick up a fuse holder and stuff also.

Anyone install the kit or their own outlet?

I used an inline fuse and just ran it off the battery, that way there is always power at the outlet. I like it that way so the phone can charge when the bike is not running.
