V&H Fuelpak Suggestions?
I have already asked the V&H tech people these questions but I am still waiting on a response from them but thought someone here might be able to help me out. I've read that V&H doesn't give out exactly what each of the 18 different settings are for and that most people use a PC or SERT but that people running a stock setup with V&H pipes have had pretty good luck with the Fuelpak.
My bike is a 2005 Softail Deuce, Pro Pipe HS 17521, 88ci, Stock ECU, Standard Baffle, K&N RK-3909 Air Filter, 6,100 miles
I programmed the Fuelpak for the value reference FP-0030, checked and double checked the settings.
I've got 2 questions:
1) After installation, it seems that while riding my bike it sometimes seems to miss or hesitate, upon acceleration or maintaining current speed. It seems to happen in 2nd & 4th gears mostly. It is sporadic and I couldn’t tell you at what RPM it occurs since I don’t have a tach. I have had my pipes on for the last 1,600 miles, the air filter, the last 300 and the Fuelpak the last 100. I had not experienced any misses or hesitation prior to installation of the Fuelpak. Could you give me any suggestions what would cause this and is there any setting I need to change on my Fuelpak to counter this problem? My bike is all stock except as noted above so it would seem I have selected the correct settings.
2)The installation instructions are lacking some detail in step 4 for someone not familiar how the relay box is attached to the bike. First of all it is impossible to see or even reach the two metal tabs referred to on the relay box bracket, let alone remove the bracket without cutting the zip ties that hold the wiring harness to the bracket. Because this step was not mentioned in the installation instructions I could not tell what two metal tabs were being referred to. (I was only able to tell when I looked up the instructions on the web for installing a Power Commander which clearly showed this step!) Even after removing the bracket, I was still unable to get the relay boxes to move down flush with the frame to make room for the Fuelpak without leaving off the relay box cover. That was the only way I could get enough space to fit the Fuelpak and be able to get the seat to fit back on. Will leaving this cover off cause me any problems? The relays and the fuses are covered by the Fuelpak components and it is packed in pretty tightly……not much extra room!!!!
I would appreciate any suggestions that anyone may have. I have been extremely pleased with my ProPipe HS and just want to get it all flowing together just right.
Thanks!
