07 closed loop perf mod question

I currently own an '04 FLHTi with V&H True Duals, SE Race Fueler & Stage I air filter... I like the bike & will most likely keep it.
My question is in ref to the new '07 96ci bikes. My very limited knowledge of efi tells me that a closed loop system adjusts itself automatically to conditions rather than the efi system in my '04 which requires the use of the race fueler to adjust for the true duals, etc... is this correct? If so, does that mean you could change the exhaust out on an '07 (using an O2 sensor in the pipes) without using a race fueler or similar device?
I guess what I am trying to determine is how easy/difficult would it be to upgrade the '07 to Ture Duals + stage 1 air filter & what kind of added performance could I expect from these basic mods. I prefer the tru duals over stock due to the heat the rear cylinder throws off with the stock pipes.

capacity to adjust EFI

Unless the 07's are greatly different than the 06's, the ability for them to auto adjust to changing conditions (pipes / air box ) is very very minimal.

There have been some good posts here regarding this.

The closed-loop system is only in effect at cruise conditions and idle. So even if you installed an '07 EFI on your bike, you'd still have to modify the ECM, otherwise, you'd be lean in a lot of conditions. Besides that, even in closed loop mode, the EFI doesn't compensate enough to cover mods like free flowing air filters or pipes.

I read a bunch of other posts elsewhere here which clarified that..... my perception is WRONG.

So it looks like one can tweak their 07 with a SERT...

Thanks for the help!

PS...I wasn't going to upgrade my 04....just wanted info.
