TCFI/Using the Log File
OK I am wondering if what I am trying to do is correct. Reading the log file from the TCFI should be a very good tuning tool, in the right hands. I don't know that I am those right hands but I am trying to get some correlation of the information contained in the log file and adjust the AFR table.
Now looking at the log the obvious parameters are there I usually look at speed (VSS) and AFR first. Then I change to RPM and AFR. What I have been doing is seeing if I go lean or rich and try and see what may be happening. I check IAC and ET, use the ET/AFR.
Tonight I saw that I went WOT at 68 MPH, 3469 RPM and went to 116 MPH, 5531 RPM and AFR 13.5 at that peak. WOT I went to 12.1 for .4 of a second then smoothed 13.5- 13.8 and that whole thing lasted less then 19 seconds.
This appears to be what I would want to happen.
However when I let off which from the chart was very abrupt I got a spike of 15.7. But I also see that I would expect that going from 116 MPH to 83 MPH in 6.1 seconds by letting off the throttle only. That AFR lasted 1 second. I would expect this to be a function of cam and exhaust.
I guess what I am asking is what are the best parameters to view, make comparisons, to make sure if you are going to tweak a particular cell in the AFR table?
I know a zillion variables here, but I would like to think there are things to look for that are solid basic tuning parameters.
I am not looking to tinker or second guess, but to understand and use what I have.
I have played with .3 adds and subtracts at various RPM ranges based on RPM, MPH. AFR. and what I perceived I was doing on the bike at that given time, and estimate what throttle position I may have been at. The BLM auto apply has not changed them. But I suspect they may be too small of increments for the BLM to pick up.
Any thoughts?
