oil temp of 270 is normal and fine for 80 deg day.
maybe you could use a good tune.
remember the ideal head temp is 300 deg so running 270 on oil temp is not uncommon.

i'v heard the s/e 255 cam is an epa cam and very little overlap, could you suggest a better cam for this setup, i do like the low end torque, i dont race it but do like the power when i need it.

If you want to stay with SE the 204 & 203 are ok cams. The 204 would be my first choice of the two.Are there better cams out there certainly.Lots of guys on this site running Woods & Andrews!!!

I have attached a richer map with a bit of timing taken out at smaller throttle ranges. Give this a try, but I would not expect a massive drop in oil temp over it.

I would not write off a oil cooler as "not dropping the temp enough". It would be the first place I would look if the temp is your main concern. You have already said that the bike is running and performing well, which in my opinion, means that it is not dangerously lean.

See if this helps and let me know

The Following Information was provide by
Harley- Davidson Service, 3rd Floor.
At what temperature will Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Oil
break down?

This oil has been designed for use at temperatures up to 300 deg F for extended periods with no significant breakdown.

5. What oil temperature is best for my Harley-Davidson?

A good oil operating temperature range is 200 deg to 240 deg F. Water condensation and acids tend to build up in the oil if the temperature is consistently below 180 deg F,

and oil thickness can become marginal at temperatures above 300 deg F.

I see a lot of higher comp builds
and a lot of stock camed motors running 260-275 deg so that's why when I saw his build a 103 with 255 cams running 270 I say normal.
actually see more run above 240 than I see below.

Did not check it with their dipstick, I have a gauge ,and checked it with a professional thermometer also.. The only time my bike had a temp like that it was sumping after the SE camplate was put in. Changed that garbage out and now it does not sump, temp went way down..
