Exclamation Do I need a remap

I was running the V&H SLIPONS and stock ecm and the S.E. breather/filter.I swapped out the slipons for a complete set of longshots and after installing thought I would try it out,man this thing has some power now.I did notice I see a little black smoke on idle then pop open throttle, but bike runs great. The pipes do have a set of quiet baffles in is it just the back pressure that gave me a boost in Hp?So should I go ahead and try the dynojet map for the longshots or leave it alone and try it for awhile?

Confused here
do you already have a power commander?
if no tuning device then yes you need one and a tune.
sounds like it is rich at idle.
and I would bet it is way lean at cruise.

Remap..

Yes By all means remap your P.C. Anytime you swap pipes you must remap your P.C. To the correct set up. otherwise you can burn your rings and not get the correct fuel usage . plus i'm sure you have noticed a lil backfire.

there isnt really any map canned map that is for those pipes.
maybe start a thread to mr dynojet requesting a map. no pm's to him ! just start a thread to him requesting a map for your build.
good luck

no you dont have to... after all your running baffled pipes. it's not going to make a difference. if you were to switch to straight pipe like fish tails then yes, because it is free flowing. if you put cams yes remap, headwork yes remap, but baffled slip-ons no your ok .

That is actually incorrect. You cannot have the same mapping for slip ons as you do for long drag pipes. While there is little chance of damaging the engine by using the slip on map, the bike is far from optimized by doing so.

The 2004 map will be fine in your 2005 bike.

dynojetresearch
i got a 2008 ultra coming in for a tune 103 255 cams SE breather
he had V&H T/D head pipes with big ovals and it was dyno tuned .
So now he wants the stock mufflers on the T/D head pipes and me to dyno tune . it sounds like when talking to him it is running rich now. I dont know what base map he has in it as I didnt tune it the last time.
so do you have a base map to suggest?
I thought about m818-058.
probably will just tune of the map he has. I am just setting here waiting for him and though I would ask
thanks

OK seems to run good, took it on a short ride no issues for now, will I lose power if I put the origanal baffles in I belive the ones in there now are quiet baffles but the guy sent another set allso and they look idenical to the ones that were in my slip-ons.I think these would really make the longshots bark but I like the power it has now?Sorry for all the ? I really appreciate the help.

You will not lose power per say.
what will happen is it will move the power band to a higher rpm.
so you will lose a little on the lower rpms and gain a little on the higher rpms.
Glad it worked for you

I didnt mean to try and hijack your thread...I just though since we were conversing already, and dynojetresearch caught this thread and responded. I would put my question out there to him.
