Angry Water getting into Power Commander connection

On a recent long distance trip (1700 mi.) on my 07 Dyna SG,I ran through some hard rain and had a pretty serious problem with the Power Commander III.
The bike would not idle down. Whatever rpm I was running at , the engine would stay there, even though the throttle was closed. Kinda like cruise control until you get off of the Interstate, then its out of control, dangerous.
The only thing to do was to shut the engine down and re-start. Then it would idle back down.
When I pulled the pin plug connection between the PCIII and the bike there was water inside the
connection. One of the pins was corroded looking, like it had been shorting out.
I dried out the connection as much as possible and got on the road. The bike ran fine until I hit rain again. Then more of the same.
When I got home I called Fuel Moto and talked to Keith. He suggested that I use dielectric grease on the connection and move it further up under the seat, which I have done. I also completely wrapped the connection with electrical tape.
Anyone else having this problem ???

Maybe packing it with dielectric grease will solve the problem

I had the same issue on my bagger - any heavy rain (or sloppy wash day) and I would fill up the PC connector with water.

The dielectric grease seems to help a great deal.

Thanks for the suggestions fellas. I have already tried the dielectric grease as per Fuel Moto.I guess I'll take it out in the rain to test it.You would think the PCIII should be a little more weather proof. Never had a problem in the rain with the stock set up.

It is actually the HD connector that is not sealed, not the PCIII connector. Due to the way the stock connector is situated (in stock form) it is not as likely to get water in it (it hangs upside down), but it is still possible. When it is relocated it is more likely that water can enter it depending on its position. The dielectric grease is all that is needed. You do not need to wrap the connectors in tape.

I have been using the dielectric grease from the start. Wasn"t sure how much to use. I put some grease down in each hole in the connection.
Maybe not using enough???

I would coat the pins in the other side of the connector and plug the two together.
