Vista 64 bit working fine.

Just wanted to let anyone who is thinking about using a Vista 64 bit system for the thundermax software that it does work. I have a Radio Shack USB to Serial cable and all I needed to do was hook it to my USB port and it loaded the drivers and told me what com port it was on.

iac

Looking to download one of the new maps that replace the one I am running now. Noticed with the new software there is not iac auto. Do you still have to load new map then let run until it reaches operation temps to set iac.

Here's what the manual says:

Writing new or modified maps to the module requires the system to be re-initialized (Step 7), and any existing learned fuel and IAC adjustments to be cleared (Map Editing, clear). Linking and editing an existing map within the module does not require above steps.

Once you clear the IAC as stated above, then you would need to re-do the warm up. I've loaded modified versions of my map many times and not had to re-do the warm up procedure, and my IAC always worked fine. I would always do it with a new (different) map load though.

Thanks for the info. I was getting confused as the new software does not have the IAC auto function.

T-Max install and crazy question!

Ok, got the Tmax installed in a 07 RK with Reinhardt Slip Ons, and Stage I air cleaner. Map #524 without any other changes just initialization and go.

Here is my question......what does "pre-det" pinging sound like on a Harley. I am very framiliar with car engine pre-det and pinging, but here is the closest comparision to what I have on my bike:

Does anyone remember what the old VW bugs sounded like at their exhaust. Kind of a high pitch "echo" quater falling in a glass sound?

I hear that on my bike especially when I am riding over a bridge and the echo off the walls brings it in clear.

If anyone can decode my ramblings......awsome and thank you

That's a tough sound to describe, but sort of a metallic clinking noise from the top of the engine. I'm guessing that what you're hearing is your exhaust as well especially if you're just cruising along. Try rolling into the throttle between 2-3K in different gears and see if you can hear anything coming from the engine and not the exhaust. Turn your head sideways and it will help to cut down on the wind noise also.

The best description I've heard to describe pinging is; "it sounds like your dragging a metal strap down the road".
Mine does it when it's hot out and I have questionable fuel in it. When you're on the road you have to take whatever fuel you can get but at home I always go to the same gas station and I rarely have pinging.
It really sucks paying over $4.00 a gallon for premium and sometimes it isn't even real gas!

Have you tried map #415 from the map selections?

Should work.

I've been reading all the posts on here and most of you are having problems finding a close map for your settings. If you find a map thats close and have auto tune you can set the learning cycle to wider parameters to learn and correct for maps that aren't exactly for your setup-pg 85 in the instruction manuel tells you how. Alot of things I'm reading on here are all in the instructions which you can down load or print off the cd. Myself I printed them out and put them in a notebook and read the whole thing before I even hooked it up. I put one on my FXDWG and love it, the bike runs soo much better got a few miner things to tune out in the next few days but sitting down again to review the instructions for the full explainations on them to be sure I'm doing it right. The point I'm trying to make is most of the questions and/or problems you all are having I'm finding all the answer right in the instruction manuel. Just my 2 cents for what it worth hope it helps someone

Need Custom Map

Anyone out there with a custom map set for a 96" (Stage 1) with Andrews 37H cams and True Duals? I have tried Map 396, 399, and most recently 523. Map 523 seems to work the best but I am getting coughing and spitting through the intake when cold.
