Even though I wasn't having a problem w/decel popping I went ahead & turned decel fuel cut on, should I do anything w/decel fuel enrichment now or just leave it where it is?

VicW.

yeah i've got it too, but haven't changed on the ecm. so no problems? how hard could it be to put it up on there site??
i guess they don't have to.
i hate to mess with a good thing. but it will be nice to get codes on the speedo.

prolly do it tomorrow.

Yep, I did it yesterday & no probs at all. I wasn't getting any popping on decell, but sort of a 'gargling' sound. After the update that all went away & now decell is smooooooooooooth. I sorta liked the decell sound before, but this is easier on the ears I suppose...

Still it'll be nice when Zippers gets everything on line w/this. What else does the firmware update do? You mentioned codes on the speedo...?

I noticed that my in town mileage went down after enabling the decel feature....anyone else notice it?

Since I wasn't really having any decel problems, I went back and disabled the feature....

Karl...I have noticed the same thing, down 2-3 mpg. I still have popping with the decel feature enabled.

I'm just running the Tmax, Doherty Power Pacc and SE street legal performance touring mufflers.

Advanced Timing

I recently switched from D&D FatCats to V&H Big Shot Duals on my TC96 stage 1 2007 Street Glide. The TMAT ran great w/ the FatCats but is horrible with the Big Shot Duals. I started with the Rinehart TD map #393 and gave it plenty of time to tune, over 500 miles. It just wouldn't tune out the vibrations (much more than usual) and extremely sluggish response pulling out of 2300-2700 rpms in 5th gear - forget about 6th.

So, I started looking into the timing once I download the new release of the SmartLink software. I noticed the timing to be quite retarded on the low end and slightly retarded up high. I've been advancing the timing gradually and getting great results. The vibrations are going down and the bike is really improving the low end torque. I did experience a bit of pre-detionation during throttle up under load so I backed the timing down in that range.

What timing settings work best? Can anyone recommend a setting at idle? How advanced is your timing at 2000, 2500, 3000, 4000 rpms?

I'm currently running 13 degrees at idle and 39 degrees top end - w/ retarded timing at higher throttle positions to account for load. I'd post my base map, but I don't have it since I'm at work.

Here's a copy of my map if anyone want's to take a look and comment.

You will need to download this file and rename the extension to *.slk so it will be recognized by the SmartLink software.
For example:
From: SEAC_BigShots5_1.txt
To: SEAC_BigShots5_1.slk
Attached Files
File Type: txt SEAC_BigShots5_1.txt (261.8 KB, 22 views)

What kind of mileage are you getting with this setup?

ThunderMax Timing

I don't have enough miles after these timing changes to post real milage. Before I was getting milage in the upper 30's (37-39) - highway miles.

I'm anything but an expert but have messed with quite a few maps for my 07 Softail and have not seen an accel fuel setting as low as 3. I think 8 is the lowest I've seen and mine is currently set at 9. It seems to me that a lack of fuel during acceleration could cause the engine to vibrate..

Good catch... Map 393 should have a default value of 10.
I changed mine from 10 to 9 and it went sluggish on me.
Something is not right about the 3.

This is the map I used for the 2600 mile round trip to Sturgis. Got 43-47 mpg doing 80mph the whole way.

try putting your accel fuel back up to like 9 and see how the bike feels before you back anymore timing out of it.

You're one lucky guy. I did similar mileage and averaged a whopping 32 mpg running between 75 and 80 mph. This system can be so damn frustrating at times.
