Tables and bigger injectors

I'm going to install larger injectors and put some "snuffers" in my straightpipes to add some midrange to the curve. The guy that did the dyno mention that engine suffers in the midrange and you can see the dip in the curve. This is also mentioned in the FAQ on the DTT site.

I'd like to know if I will I have to go into the idle tables, etc. and modify them? As it stands now, the bike starts, idles and runs great. When I added the DTT the kickback on start disappeared and I'd hope to keep it that way.

From reading through some of the articles on this forum it sounds as though I can just change the injector size numbers and start a retune and apply those changes to the tables.

Comments?

Are you starting, and immediately trying to ride off? Does it immediately go to a high idle upon starting? On occasion mine will do that, but it seems it happens when I immediately try to ride off, but I can get it to settle at a stop by holding the front brake and slowly releasing the clutch to slow the idle.

That is the best way to go! I am running the HP inc 53mm, and am switching. The Gerolomy eliminates many tunning problems, and delivers more.

Nmandic helped me out with this, see below...

"Perhaps the problem is just in scaling the axes? Go to TCFI Log graph, mouse right-button click will get you ro 2D Chart Properties. Click on Axes tab; and then look whether your Temperature Axis is on the left or on the right (Y or Y2 respectively). Click on Y or Y2 (whichever is Temp), then click on tab 'Scale' and change the Data Max to 200 (if it is in C) and Max to 200. The graph will adjust so you can see your temperature graph. Does this answer the question or I am stating the obvious?"

SL,

I think the calculations for the BLM's are off. When looking at my log, one graph is near the top and the other is below the centerline. Both have the same values (102).
Any thoughts?

Curtis,

Loaded the map you sent me and so far there are no Check Engine lights and she's running great!

I rode about 20 miles so far and viewed the BLM's. There are some spikes but no red cells like before.

Can't wait to get together at Thunder Beach so I can ask a few thousand questions...

Thanks very much for the assistance!

Ride it and apply the BLM's. Remember to reset BLM's to 100%. Send me a idle /warm up log and your map after you apply.

Curtis,
I applied the map you sent me... I have only gotten to ride about 100 miles so far.
It does run pretty well. I still have the hesitation off Idle (obviously way worse when cold) when riding and shows up whether rolling or pulling away from a stop.
Idle is good. There is a flat spot around 2K to 2500 rpm but that may work out with the BLM's.
I am thinking that a cam change my be the ticket. I have never been a real fan of the S&S .570 cam only because it has a lot of tendency to allow a lot of scavenging of the cylinder during the overlap..(exhaust valve being open to late in the cycle)
I am looking at the Head Quarters TC-0039G cam .. I still have to take some time to compare centerlines and the overlap (both seem pretty close but then the centerline makes the difference).
I also have a S&S .510 cam lying around but I dont think it wll do justice with my raised compression.. (running close to if not over 9.8 to 1)..
And if I do that I might as well go back to stock valve springs, stock pushrods and drop the compression back down..
what do you think?

You are asking questions I can't answer. Talk to a good engine builder about your cams. Send me your log and map just as it comes out of your bike and let me see what it looks like.

Obviously you know what you are doing to come up with the maps the way you do....
Thanks again for all your help.

Curtis.............I got your PM and I replied with my email address for you to send the map to. But it's been a few days and I haven't seen anything from you yet.

Let me know if you didn't get my reply to your PM.

MaineUltra I got your PM. I have been working on your map. I would like to see what map you are running now and a log to see how you drive. That would help me get a new map ready sooner. Send to Curtismachine967@bellsouth.net. Also tell me what problems you have with the engine starting, idle, roll on, mpg, ping.

I have 10 miles on this build...............weather will not cooperate with me to allow me to get more miles on it.

Those 10 miles were super smooth, no problems at all. What I'm looking for is some good advance maps to plug into my current basemap.

Not sure when I'll be able to get any miles on this build...........maybe next weekend if the weather gets warmer.

Steve

Hey Screw,

Any new info, tweaks for the MegaLog Viewer? Using the formula posted, the BLM's don't graph correctly. Any insight?
