Got my Fuelpak today, took apart my bike this evening to put it on. Easy enough so far. I connected the connector with the ECU - no problem there. Then, I am connecting the factory wiring to the connector. The unit does not light up. Ok, so I'm thinking I screwed up connecting the wiring harness, so I unplug it and try it again. The unit is still not lighting up. The wiring harness doesn't seem to be "snapping" into place when I put the little grey lever back into place, but damn, it isnt rocket science.

I repeat the entire process with no success. Now, I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but connecting one piece to another should not be that hard.

Any suggestions? I'd like to make it to work in the morning.

Like ya said, it's not rocket science, so I'm sure ya have it hooked up correct. You probably have a dead unit. I'm sure V&H's support will get a new one out to ya pronto. I have heard of another fellas getting a bad unit too, so it happens...

Hi.

I would suggest you look into the socket and see if one of the pins got pushed over, that would stop it from seating.
If all the male pins are strait, then you can try a little bit of Dielectric grease to lube it up a bit.

Once you get the two connectors seated in, you need to turn the key to "run" and turn on the hand control switch to "Run" as well.
The unit is only on when there both in the run position.

One last thing, I see you have a 2008 Road King......Do you have the version 12 or the version 13 unit?

The 2008's require the use of the version 13 only, it needs the 13 because it has the connector for the electric throttle.

I didn't have the kill switch on. Those directions made it sound like it needed to be off. I flipped it on and it come right on. I guess I will be finishing that up when I get home from the office today. Thanks for the input.

I wish I could say I had not. You just joined the club is all.

The one that I put on my wifes 08 street glide worked perfect.

Best of luck,

Chris

It's funny, I flipped the kill switch and the ignition and it lit right up. I swear to you I felt 10 IQ points fall right out of my head.

Hi, got my new ride 05 SE Fatboy, came with fuelpak fitted/V&H bigradius pipes/H-D filter29442-990
Runs with some decel-pop
so looked up settings on Fuelpack site =FP-0199
which are nothing like my current settings, way out got plenty minus values!
So,does down/disconnected battery = loss of settings (bike been stored awhile/previous owner)
also mode 20 reads 11, so not the mimimum version12 as required?

Hi.

If it reads 11 in cell 20, what that is telling you is you have a Version 11 unit. If you want to "Upgrade" to the version 12, Vance and Hines, last time I asked them would upgrade it for you for 29.95, you will need to mail them the unit to do so.
If you used the program locator on there web site, do not use it with a version 11, the programs are different.

Call up Vance and Hines and ask them.

Jeffytune,
I have a 02 flhr, porker slip-ons, SE air cleaner, and the fuel pak. At this time I not very satisfied with the fuel pak, and the drop in performance. Since I installed the fuel pak I’ve had decal popping, back firing through the carburetor, and a stutter while maintaining steady throttle. I contacted V&H technical support and after describing the problem they tell me change settings and still not all that good. I believe they have a good product, and the one I have isn’t defective, but though all of this it kind of make me want to go back to stock and leave well enough alone. I’ve read the entire thread on this and, good stuff by the way, but haven’t seen anyone else have this problem.

Purchased an FXDC a couple of months ago. Before delivery had se air cleaner, fuel pak and big radius pipes installed. Getting a little popping on decal (sometimes getting none). Anything to worry about? Now that it is broken in, when you get on it runs like a scalded dog. I hate to try and get rid of the decal popping and mess something else up. Other that the little bit of decal popping runs great. Just wondering.
