Thanks, I'll give them a call. Given the info I gave, does it sound like a lean condition?

A pop can be caused by a lean run, but it can be a rich run too.
It can also be the way you work the throttle, how hard you were on it before you shifted, and if you are closing it during the shift.
With all that said, most tuners i know that do Power commanders and SERT tuning do not guarantee the exhaust will not pop, it can be a function of the free flow exhaust system.

Have no popping with shift changes, only with decel when coming to a stop or slowing down when I let off the throttle.

I can't remember
While reading and posting to this thread a month or so ago I think I recall seeing someone mention the issue with the throttle lag on 08 fly by wire. I thought I also read there is a download out there. Does anyone recall or have any dealings with the issue. I know this isn't the appropriate thread for this post but thought I'd try here first, so keep the flame to a low heat.

I have a 2007, but my boss has a 2008, he choice to use the SERT over the Fuelpak. He and I are both master techs in the auto repair world, and electric throttle is nothing new to us, it has been on cars for over 10 years now.
Stan, I am unaware of a download to speed up the throttle response, and after riding my boss's 2008, all I can say is, yes there is a heart beat delay, but so does every car I have driven with it.
He said that after a month of riding he doesn't even notice it any more.
If the delay is one that is very noticeable, then I would have the dealer look into it, as that would not be normal, it should be something that you can easily get used too.

Jeffy,
Thanks, I'm not the only one who has experinced this problem. I was told by a motorcycle cop with the St. Augustine Fl Sheriff's department of the same problem. They took their entire fleet of 08 bikes to Bruce Rossmeyer's in Daytona who upgraded their ECM's program. Anyway, I made a call to Adamac, the local dealer here who said they never heard of the problem or download. I then called Rossmeyer's who reluctantly admitted there is a new ECM program that will correct the program. He said it takes the ECM from a C to a D version. He said that dealer's are suppose to check on the 1000 mile service what program is in the ECM and upgrade as necessary. As interesting side note the deputy who told me of the problem said that after the upgrade you have to reload a Stage One download if you had it prior to the upgrade. He went on to say that at first Rossmeyer was going to charge the county for the remap of the Stage One until the Sheriff made a call.
Btw I never doubted your experince or knowledge.

Hi Stan.
Thank you for sharing this info with us, I would bet that my boss had the download done when they did his 103 kit, and dyno tuned it with the SERT.
I called my friend at the dealer, they have not been made aware of this upgrade as if yet, but the northwest it seems is the last to get anything.
He said he would call the company tuesday and get back to me.

With mine, if you were to sit at idle and work the throttle back and forth you will feel the lag. As I just ride it, I NEVER feel it. Also I'm not out there wacking the throttle to wide open from a low rpm either.

Yes The popping occurs when decel and using the engine as a brake. Doesn't happen when I pull in the clutch and off the throttle.

Warranty ...
Maybe I'm opening a can of worms here but ...
By installing a FuelPak, SE air cleaner and V&H Oval slipons on my new 2008 Ultra ... did I just void the warranty?
Thanks,
RB

HI.
From what I have seen, it shouldn't. If the dealer gives you a hard time, just go strait to the factory district representative.
The factory is the only ones that can void a warranty.

It is best for the engine to use the brakes to stop, the forced decel can, in extreme cases, shift the flywheels.
That and suck your fuel mileage, wear out the clutch and increase wear on the transmission.
That is not to say that wile riding through the twisties you should not engine decel to control the bike, it's the down shift to stop as the norm that becomes a issue.
