Hard hot starts

Just got done with a mild 98" build and tune. Pistons/heads are rated at under 10:1. My problem is, after getting the bile up to operating temp., maybe 1/2 hour of riding, and I shut it off for 10-15 minutes to fill up or get a drink, the bike has a harder than normal time starting. It acts as if the compression has been raised and it needs to turn a few extra revolutions before it actually fires up. Battery is good and connections are clean and tight. My question is, should I retard the timing a few degrees at idle? I'm using a PC III. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I can't speak with alot of knowledge of fuel injection systems because I haven't tinkered with them enough yet. I can tell you this, I had the exact same problem after building a carbureted TC88 up one time. What finally solved the problem was adding fuel to the startup circuit. Once it was adjusted properly, it would fire as soon as I hit the switch hot or cold. I think you need a little work on your map.

Yup, cranking fuel or timing changes might help. Simple to try on a pc3. Also, do you have adjustable p-rods? If so, how many turns are they. No compression releases i assume, but whats your ccp?

Stock pushrods so no adjustment. Haven't checked CCP yet. Compression should be under 10:1 so I wouldn't think releases would be necessary. Last time this happened I noticed vapor (fuel/air?) venting from the air cleaner. I'm not sure if there is an adjustment for the start cycle other than idle RPM and 0 throttle position.
