Thundermax Autotune

How many Thundermax owners have had their units go down? Mine starting causing trouble and I confirmed tonight that the Thundermax is bad. It's 23 months old with 12,500 miles on it. I'm a little dissappointed with it. It ruined a vacation cause the bike would not run!!! Thankfully we were not on our yearly tour on the Bikes. We usually run 3500 to 4000 miles for our vacation!! This year we took our toyhauler and the kids so at least we got it back to the camper and loaded it. Kids didn't get too ride much thou!! Enough complaining just curious about how many failures there has been?

Electronic devices can last a week or fifty years. Just the way it is. I believe the tmax has 3 year warranty, no ? I'm on my third year now with no issues and happy with it.

What caused or how did you diagnose it to be the TMax unit?

That'll work. As for all up failures of these units, I don't think it very common. Read about one guy going through 3 of them only to find out it ended up being something else like wiring as the end result. Stock unit worked on the swap, but not for long.

I talked to the guy I bought the Thundermax from. He sold well over a 1,000 of them and I was only the second failure that he knew about!!!

They are a good unit. Unfortunetly I was one of the small % of failures!

Hooked up to mine after a exhaust change & got "Module type unknown". Had to send it in to Zippers. Went through a local indy who does a lot of biz with them, had it back in 3 days. No problems since. Seems I probably fried it through improper use of a low budget trickle charger.
