Cool EFI / Fuel Pump help

I repaired a bad connection from handelbars at the Deutsh connector under the tank. When I put her back together the fuel pump ain't pumping? The EFI system relay clicks off and kills power to the O/ Gry wire to the fuel pump connector, the engine light and gas guage light stay on as well, all other systems are fine, the problem is isolated to the EFI.
Q: Normally when a relay kicks off I think a short (power to ground).
Anybody else ever experience this.[/color] Bike is an 04 Heritage w/ 25000 miles and was running fine when I did the repair. I am careful about stuff and can't locate any pinched wires and continuity is good every where, everythign in the service manual says refer to trouble shooting giude in HD electronic manual (another book.
I a former PHD certified wrench (retired) so I know my way around wirng usually.
ANY IDEAS? All help is appreciated.

Thank

the relay will normally shut power to the pump after a few seconds till you hit the start button. after bike starts, the relay will feed constant to the pump. you can test this by jumpering from positive battey terminal to the pump fuse, providing a constant voltage to pump. but being a PHD, you knew this.

Pump not working when starter is pressed. Doesn't power up when ignition turned on. Didn't try the jumper it was late, got frustrated, decided to stop and look at it fresh in the AM.
Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the idea, all the repairs were on the left side due to some bad connectors.
I'll cover the right in order to eliminate that side.
Thanks, sounds like you've chased a couple of electrical ghosts yourself, so you understand the frustration.

I appreciate it.

I tried the jumper and power was good to the pump connection. Repalced the relay with a new one, relay still kicked off after a couple of secondes without powering up the fuel pump. So no help there. Did that after work last night. Next I'll go through all of the connections on the right side, look for a bad one to the run switch.

Thanks

HMMM, that should be direct power. im missing something here, may be the beer. look at the schematic and see if the run switch interupts power from the fuse to the pump.

jumper from battery direct to plug on top of tank, the one that powers the pump. eliminate the entire system to check pump, then check backwards as we were doing with the run switch.

Found it! Ran a jumper from ground to the pump cover plate on tank and she ran fine.
The Deutch connector on the tank (male) was the culprit. The ground prong bent down when putting in the plug, the way the connector goes together you couldn't feel anything wrong when you plugged it in. The way it faces away from you you really don't look into it, when I did, there was the bent male connector.
Thanks man! Your suggestions got me troubleshooting in the right direction (away from wiring an looking at pump power) I really appreciate your replies. If your ever out west I owe ya a brew or two.
