Leaking Quick Disconnect Fitting

1997 Road King FLHRI
The fuel supply line fitting is leaking. Not at the tank where the quick disconnect attaches but in the fitting itself where the 2 pieces fit together. Harley wants $180 for a new line OUCH! I was told that a hose shop can take the fitting apart and fix it. Does any one know if this can be done or is there any fix other than $180 part from harley?

I can't say for sure but I think there is an 'O' ring on the male end, maybe that can be cleaned or replaced. It's actually more of an insert or grommet, I put a little Parker Lube(Fuel Lube) on it and connected and disconnected it a couple times and it doesn't leak. Or maybe you've already tried that...

This fitting does not come apart like on the later models.

Can someone point me in the right direction? I'm goin nuts looking for an EFI fuel line replacement for a 2000 Road King Classic. The o ring leaks and it's impossible to find one here in Okinawa.

Just went through this on the Fatboy though I am not sure it is exactly the same on the '00.
http://www.v-twinforum.com/forums/ef...+quick+connect

The short version is that the Harley oil drain plug o-ring is the same as the one in the quick disconnect and will be easier to locate than the Harley part number 11273 mentioned in the thread. The difficulty is in the replacement. Just take your time and be patient, I ended up using a dental pick to remove the old one and then used an allen key to press the new one all the way up and seated.

Good luck

My Fatboy leaked for a bit too - I ended up soaking it in WD40 repeatedly and after two days tried it...no leaks. This was back in May of this year.

Good luck -

its a small o ring ... you can go to auto zone or napa or some place like'em and match it up. they usually have a bag of mixed sizes... you have to use a tooth-pick to get yours out
