Hey Steve.
I agree with you that a couple more horses could be had with a SERT or PC vs. the Fuelpak.
But at what cost?
I PC III run 359ish and the SERT runs 450ish, right?
Then you need to find a tuner who knows what there doing, there are far too many out there that will just dump in a pre-made program on the stage one and call it good, but still charge 200-300 bucks for it.
So a good tuner up here costs about 450 bucks.
In my poor math that comes to 800-900 bucks vs. 259 for the fuelpak.
Lets say you gain 4 horse that means it cost you 641 bucks for that 4 horse or 160.25 pre horse.
Will this gain you any more MPG?
I doubt it, more likely it will cost you MPG.
Will it run better?
I have had my Fuelpk for two years and my bike runs like a top in either 120+ degrees, or 30 starts fine runs fine, other then a pop on decel from time to time, I have no running issues at all.
Will I win the drag race because of this tuning?
It will depend who gets the better launch, but I would think it would still be a near dead heat.
Let us look at the future here, in California, they are once again looking to include Motorcycles in the Bi-yearly test programs, and even if you don't live in California, your state may have adopted there emission standards. What will you do with these custom tune bikes then? The SERT is not approved for the street and the PC III is no longer approved (The PC III EX, but it is more like the Fuelpak then a PC III).
The Fuelpak is CARB (California Air resources Board) Approved for street use....so is my Pro pipe BP, so my bike is legal, run perfect, has good power, good mileage.
I see no need to spend all that money for no real gain Steve.
If I were to go that route, I would want to get a set of your heads and some high flow cams.
Then I would NEED to have this done, but as my bike sits, it has all the power I need and runs like a top.
Must be the GMR Roller rockers I have in it.
