Low Rider has new Billet front end but can't mount the fender : V-Twin Forum: Harley Davidson Forums

I bought a 2002 Low Rider at the beginning of the year and have been putting the finishing touches on it. The guy I bought it front has it about 90% done which includes all chrome everything, cools pipes, new billet build front end, you get the idea. My question is, he gave me the fender but hadn't had a chance to get it mounted, the new billet front end is wider between the forks and the fender seems to float between the forks. There is about a 3/4 to 1 inch gap between the fender mounts and the trees, my question, whats the best way to mount the fender? Do I need a new wider fender? Or should I go with a couple billet spacers and the regular mounting kits? Should I have something made? Not really sure which way to go, any help would be appreciated.

billet front end? some things i will never understand. to answer the question, i would go with polished aluminum spacers.

or maybe a billet fender

Do you need a wide glide front fender maybe? Same size, just has wider brackets...also the same as the softail standard models...

Wide Glide? That might work, hadn't really thought of a new fender, I was trying to make this one work but it does look kinda of skinny between the forks. I don't think this guy bought the front end from a catalog, he said he had it custom built and its solid billet steel. Sure wish he would of got the fender to match, would of made my life easier...

There are "wide glide" front ends, and "narrow glide" front ends. Defined by how far apart the legs are. Softails (and the wide glide, some others) use the wider version.

You can either get spacers for that fender, or a different fender.

I used chromed spacers that I got from a True Value hardware store.

cuechic... WS6 has a pretty decent pic of what spacers will look like (not bad!)... but you can also find plenty of spacers online such as:

I just did a google with:
harley front fender spacers

and found tons of cool stuff.

The spacer route saves you from having to buy a new fender and getting it painted to match.

Hey, thanks for the pics, helps alot to actually see what it looks like. I'll probably order a spacer kit and try that out first, it doesn't cost that much so if I don't like it, i haven't lost much. Will post a pic when i'm done.
