Quick help please....Primary Fluid Change

Help....I'm in the middle of changing my fluids for the first time. Currently on the Primary fluids, how much do I refill with? The owners manual says 26oz. But I've also seen and heard where the fluid level is suppose to come up to the bottem of the where the Derby cover fits on. I put a quart (32 oz) in and the fluis is not up to that level yet. What to do?????

32oz. is too much. 26 is correct. The fluid should come up to the bottom of the plates not the cover.

What Jimt said is correct, up to the bottom of the plates. 32 oz.is too much. Get a turkey baster & suck some out. Use a flashlight to fill & see when it begins to touch the bottom of the plates. Its difficult to tell when the fluid level touches the plate, at least for me. A flashlight helps to see.

26 oz. should do the trick. More is not better.

Got it done thanks. Little bit of panic there. Done and put away for the winter or atleast until the next 65 degree day.

Thanks everyone.

My 06 takes 32 oz but follow your manual. If it says 26 then do it.

murphdog is an unknown quantity at this point
KB, pre '06 capacity was 26 oz in primary and 24 oz in transmission. '06 and later is 32 oz in both.
