The Wide Glide caliper mounting tabs position the caliper more inboard, about .130".

thats the only difference? so if i were to run a set of 06 fxdwg forks in a set of fxd mid glide trees all i would have to do is shim the brake caliper? i am trying to get to a mid glide set up with a 21" wheel. if i use v rod lowers i can dual disc the bike but then i need a new m/c ..
thanks
ps . where did you find that out ? HD Tech services told me they would call back tomm. because they had to figure out why other than the obvious reasons.

Yes, thats the only difference on the left side slider, the right side slider is the same part number as the other Dyna's. If you use the Wide Glide forks you will be raising the front of the bike (Wide Glide forks are two inches longer). You will have to remove material from the caliper mount if you use a Wide Glide slider with you original hub, the Wide Glide 21" wheel hub is too wide for your original fork spacing.

If you want a dual disc set up, Harley Davidson has a kit to use with your original wheel hub, then you can lace a 21" rim to your original hub.

I found out the difference on the lower left side slider from actual experience. I wanted to install a 21" Wide Glide wheel on my Low Rider, then found that the hub was too wide, so I installed Wide Glide triple clamps and shimmed my caliper and disc to center the caliper over the disc.

From a hardware store: 3/4" spacers and 3/4" longer stainless Allen head bolts for mounting the fender, and stainless washers for shimming (.040" for the caliper & .090" for the rotor) to center the caliper over the rotor.

Use other existing hardware from your bike (axle nut and washer, triple clamp pinch bolts, head bearings nuts and washer, fender nuts, forks, etc.).

I bought the parts from Zanotti's back in June of 06.

Here are the Harley Davidson part numbers and Zanotti prices:
P/N 46700-06 Upper Triple Clamp.....$ 65.75
P/N 46386-06 Lower Triple Clamp....$139.83
P/N 40923-06 Front Axle..................$ 28.39
P/N 40926-06 RH/FRT Spacer.............$ 4.58
P/N 40927-06 LH/FRT Spacer.............$ 4.58
Total..$243.13

Update: 4/3/08
Axle spacers above are also available in a chrome tapered version P/N 41410-06 Chrome Tapered Front Wheel Spacer Kit $23.51

Original Wide Glide tire replaced with only 7,300 miles on it (Not much tread left). Replaced it with a Avon Venom AM41 90/90-21, widest tire (3.70") I could find that will fit the Wide Glide Profile rim.
