Oil Cooler Question - 05 FXDC

Currently serving in Iraq. Looking to do some minor upgrades to my '05 FXDC when I get back to the States. Up to this point put about 3000 miles a year on the bike. But have changed my day job and will be able to ride to work, instead of company service truck. Thirty miles +/- each way. The short way is interstate, long way two-lane blacktop.

Just wondering about the pros and cons with adding an oil cooler. No current heat problems. Just trying to extend the engine life. Any info would be great, Thanks.

The only engine mods to this point are SE EFI, SE pipes, & a Power Commander.

I certainly can't hurt. I have had one for ages, the Jagg / Harley type with long oil hoses. With the new filter plate adapters they have these days that are easier to install. I believe they also have built in thermostats. Just bear in mind that on a hot day and doing parade duty the standard cooler does not do much as it needs air flow to function. But I figure that if the oil was cooler to begin with it can't hurt. Good add on overall.

Thanks for the info Bone. That is about the way i was thinking. I'm sure it couldn't hurt. I've done a little more research in the forums and the web. My internet connection here is not the best. I'm pretty sure I'm going to give it a try when i get out of here. Thanks again.
