choke pull came off it's bracket

on my 2001 WG ( I have owned the bike 10 days) the choke pull handle vibrated loose and hangs down off the bracket
I put it back on but now it won't tighten down enough to hold it place. Also the pull won't stay out,, it returns in as soon as let go
I have the clymer manual; but can no diagram for choke pull or tab

Thanks for any advice!!

Put the choke cable in the bracket, the star washer & steel nut need to be on the back side of the bracket. Very lightly tighten the steel nut. Then tighten the plastic serrated nut on the facing side of the bracket finger tight to keep tension on the choke cable to you're liking.

Take a close look at the threaded portion behind the bracket. Did you over tighten and crack the plastic...From the sounds of it you may have. I speak from experience!

It may well be broke... Happens when people overtighten them.

You can install a new choke cable... it's not super hard, nor expensive. You'll have to remove the carb to do it, I've replaced several (in the shop).
