103 Bagger build with Woods TW6 & RH T/D's
Well, here it is. I've finally got off the bike and took the time to get the scanned image sized correctly. Kudo's to Dave at JD's for his knowledge and patience while I hounded him with questions before and during the build. Thanks also go to Scott at Hillside for his help in ensuring the components worked together and the turn around on the timken conversion, boring the cylinders and of course the Stage II heads.
This build was chosen for mostly 2 up riding on a Ultra. We occasionally tow a bushtec trailer loaded, and wanted to keep the compression under 10.0-1 for longevity. I'm very pleased with the build. We have the HP and TQ suitable for our needs without going crazy. And yes, we wanted true duals. We did consider the Fatcat, but it just didn't seem to what we wanted.

Congratulations!!! Looks like you'll have plenty of 2 up pulling power. Should be a good reliable build!!

Nice build, congrats.
One question/comment that maybe Hillside could answer. It suprises me to see that the tq line didn't cross 100 until after 3000rpm with that cam. I would have suspected it to be around 2500, even with the true duals. Normal? Exhaust choice? Lower compression? Tune?

Congrats Mike a very solid build with great choice of parts and tuner!!!!
You will have many miles of fun with that. Gives you a whole nother aspect of riding doesn't it.
Ceraa, i would attribute the bit later curve to the RH true duals as they over scavenge a bit on the bottom end, but they run like stink in the midrange and topend. My dad has a very similar build and the dyno sheet looks identical. He is still starting out at 2k rpms way more than stock.

Have you gotten any idea of what kind of mileage you're getting considering the kind of riding you do?

Chris.
Mileage is usually around 37-38. I did have one tank last weekend riding through WV that was 43. It all depends on the wrist. It's about 4-5 mpg better than what I was getting with the 98" nikasil build that it replaced. It's also much more fun to ride.

Much lower compression, on this trailer-towing, mega-mile, highway cruising combo, along with the tru-duals.
Much, much, more when setting it up for sport-touring.
It sure ain't the tuner.
Your point?

So I take it the answer is the lower compression. Which make sense on a bike like this that might not always be able to get the higher grade of fuel while traveling.
My point was; why didn't the tq line cross 100 until after 3000 rpm.
Nothing more, nothing less.

Chris,
The true-duals are a major culprit, and will shove the torque over.

yep, the true duals will always show up on the right side of the graph. which is the wrong side for a bagger, and since dynas and softails dont run duals, it proves there is no place in the harley world for true duals, yet they are the most popular.
my question is why????????????????????????
are there that many idiots? i think there are that many magazine readers.
are there that many that say a bagger only looks right with duals, ?
i think there are that many that are unaware of ghost pipes/ or how beautiful a bagger is with a 4" pipe hanging off the right side.
comments?

I love the look of a touring type bike with a single pipe.
Hell, my 1967 FLH has a 2/1 of sorts.

no bashing intended. looking for intelligent arguments as why someone would run a late hitting pipe on a bike that wants to hit early and quick.(dresser) ????????????????????
