Top Bike Australia
hope this works, here's a vid from the Top Bike class that was held two weeks back. we race twins and 4 cylinder superchanrged all together. a lot of the riders are lstill learning so some times might seem slow but, anyone that knows what its like racing Top Bike would understand as if it was easy everyone would do it.
also this track has a very short braking area ( all our tracks in Australia have a short braking area. hope the link works . also this was qualifying

Jay Upton just ran 6.1s back to back at the Motorlpex in Western Australia last weekend and his last run was a 6.13s and shut her down at 1000ft, I think this guy is going to be the first here to run a 5sec here, check out youtube

that was cool stuff to watch!
I also saw Upton's January crash into the wall on the big end. Anyone know the cause? Couldn't tell from the amateur video.

Hey Tote, Jay was racing a friend of mine when he came off, that was the first qualifying pass for Top Bike at that meet, there was a lot of hold up's with oil downs and so on, my friend was not happy runing his first qualifier so late at night, as track got cold and dew point was up so not ideal .
oil was spraying from Jay's bike my friend was covered in oil mist, i think it was something to do with oil and aerodynamics that caused Jay to come off. he is tough! he is a Brit with true Grit! what a lot did not know was extent of his injuries, but he came back down the track and got out the car to watch the next top bike qualify and waved to crowd.
sad part was he lost that new bike and it had been doing quick times. but looks like he is back on track.
But Brantleys old Bike The Hulk, is out here with a new guy riding it, thats the bike that you see hit the fence, the guy has a great Crew and a Friend of McBrides doing the set up in the crew, just Upton's 1st 1/8th times look better so he must be puting out some good power. he is not a young guy eather.
but i cheer the twins!

thanks!
after I watched the 2 vids in this thread, I watched the Upton Jan '09 crash into the wall and that caught my attention because it was a hard left from the right lane but I couldn't tell what started it.

Tote, a lot of people could not work out what started that, they have a few different vids of that pass.from different angles. the best one i have seen was end of Season ANDRA presentations. they had a giant screen up, but was still hard to work out.

yeah, it looked wicked bad to me. I'm glad he didn't get hurt any worse than he did.
we're still messing with race gas.... currently re-building the pro mod to 120", 4-1/8" x 4-1/2". R&R, specifically Reggie Sr., donated a set of billet cases which we really appreciate!! because we have had cast cases fail and the Twin Cam is hard to get good race parts for. When right, it should get into the lower 8's, we're thinking 'teens possibly.
On the back burner but still going to get put back together is the 140" pro gas bike. We should be back to the track next season.
All the best!

That sounds good Tote, good to hear you are still racing. will be good to see if you get it into the 8's that will be great with a twin cam. what heads does it run? and what crank & rods.
i was bracket racing yesturday in Screamin eagle's it's for street bikes. we had good entry numbers and it was hot prob close to 100f? and humid but was racing so i was happy. i won first round elimination then second round i did a -.016 reaction so stuffed up but thats why i like it as not easy.
good thing was i was doing the fastest trap speeds my best was 119.98mph but i was a bit slack on the sixty foots only 1.8 best time was 11.40 but i was shifting early. this past week i ran 11.3 with a soft 1.9 60 ft but shifting at 6,400 i was shifting at 5,800 and holding 4th yesturday.
now i'm 61 i seem to be loosing my 60ft or nerve
was good to have three 113 inch EFI with all the fruit dyna's doing slower speeds than my ol 95 inch carb, but as they were riding harder than me doing 1.6 & 1.7 60 foots they got the times down one of my mates on a 113 inch carb (cv51) ran 11.09 118mph a 113 EFI almost new ran 11.25 119mph with a 1.7 60ft, my mate on the 113 carb bike was doing 1.6 60ft but he stuffed up on the line with traction prob in elimination. another mate got beat by a girl first round . lol
i'll have to get to the track more get that 60ft down, i'm only runing andrews 55's, i was doing faster trap speeds with s&s 625 but was harder to ride out the hole. i think i could go quicker with right cam but, first i have to get my 60ft down.
when does your season start?

we had been running Edge crank/lightweight flywheels and Edge aluminum rods.
on the stroker, we are going to 8" rods.
Heads are highly modified S&S B1's with fire ring, i.e. no head gasket and race ported. We have a set of S&S Pro Stock castings for use. They have a better port angle and room for more port.
Our previous best 60' with a 7" M/T and wheelie bars and Bandit lock-up clutch was 1.21 seconds. Best e.t. with the previous 113" at class total weight of 580 lbs was 8.73 secs, so we had been consistently running in the 8's.
The rule of thumb on 60' times is, for every tenth saved on the front end are equal to 2-3 tenths on the big end. Keep working on the combination that gives you the lowest 60'.
all the best!

Gordon thank's.
Tote sounds like you have a good set up, i've looked at the s&s pro stock cast heads they look great, a friend here has a old pro stock bike with s&s cast pro motor two D carb manifold. he was runing good till the G2 billit pro stock EFI bike showed up, but he did not like doing bike up keep was having gear box trouble.
will your weight go up with increase in cubic inch? or do rules allow same weight?
i think i'll look at my front end and rear shocks and rear tire, but still want to get to at least 1.7 before i change anything, i'm going to work on my lights too will push it at grudge meets then move back till its close too .000

weight is in discussion right now.... from what we are hearing, minimum weight might be 640 lbs now.
Control of "Fanning" the clutch release on launch, launch in 2nd gear(if using standard gearing) & rear tire pressure (drop to about 20 psi is stock street tire)...... you should be able to get down to 1.6 seconds in the 60'.
All the best! let us know your progress.
