I ran 7.19 in the 1/8...
I ran my bike at Shadyside dragstrip last Thursday night and ran a 7.19 at 98.66 mph. I left the starting line at idle at it carried the front wheel six inches through first gear and picked it up again in second until shifting into third with a 1.71 60'. It went through the lights at approx 6300 rpm and was still pulling hard. I'm using a 200 Metzler rear tire. Does anyone have suggestions for rear tires???

sounds like you are making some good power. 591 dunlop has proven itself many times at the track.

I ran 7.19
Thanks for the tire info. I have seen the Shinko on several sportbikes at the track. I'll also check out the Dunlop. Has anyone run the Michelin Power Race?? I am running 1985 lowrider with a 020 over 127 Ultima with 11.5 cr, ported heads, 640 S&S cam, Rivera tapered pushrods, 1005t DTT, bored and t-jetted G, Supermeg, S&S 6 speed, 3"BDL w/lockup. I switched to a ZZZ 530 chain when I extended the swingarm 4" and added a 200 Metzler. The final drive is currently a 25/44. I feel that I can easily drop another 3 teeth at the rear with the torque that the motor makes. I tried to run it on the dyno 6 weeks ago and the motor ran through the BDL lockup clutch. It showed 130 hp and 134 torque but would not lockup until 5200 rpm.I reworked the clutch and have not been able to get back on the dyno. Maybe next week or so....

I have never had the bike on a set of scales. It is a stock weight lowrider and is my daily rider. I don't have any lightweight wheels etc...

Nice build! You have all the right parts there and you should easily be able to trim some tenths off your time.

yep, i would think quite a few tenths. i dont think the dunlop would be good after reading the build. dropping the rear sprocket will raise your centerline and should help plant the tire a little better.
whats that sticky street legal, AM23? problem with daily driver is either install your spare wheel/drag tire on race day, or replace tires on a regular basis. i really started to install and test a shinko, but didnt want to be changing tires every 2k miles.
how bout some pics posted on photobucket for us to oogle your scoot?

Try a Mickey Thompson MCR2 Shoot Out tire, they are a little pricey but nothing works better at the track ( except a slick )

Thanks for the tire help. I plan on picking up another rear rim this winter to try out different tires. I want to build a SS 2-1 with 2" primaries but that will have to wait until winter. I also want to add some type of air/elec shifter. I think the elec would be a cleaner install (easier to hide) than the air. What about the Dyno Jet foot shifter?? I'll work on getting some pictures of the bike. This thing is a blast to ride and I can't wait until the air cools off so these racetracks aren't so greasy. It fools a lot of the sport bikes....

you wouldnt want to run that tie on the street unless you have big bucks, are good at changing tires and never get rain.

I wouldn't run a MCR2 on the street they are to thin and not made for cornering, if you trailer your bike to a street race then that's different.
