Firestarter
There is something I can't understand, why is it so hard to start a fire in the fireplace but you can drop just one lit Firechief match on the floor and burn down your house.

TEXAS EH?
Ya know most Texans here are Gazintas, but if the fireplace is that much trouble you must be a dOOF.

Not to sure about that 8, kind sounds dangerous, thought more about a propane bottle and a .357 at close range to be sure not to miss, what do you think?

It's a zen kinda thing...remember the old saw about painting: how come when I paint the wall I get more on me than the wall? It's really simple...just paint yerself and you'll get more on the wall...that said I bet if you tried to light the carpet you'd have a big enough blaze going to get them logs lit...

As a doof ya only have one viable option.
Slide the tv over and put a couple of welding tanks with a rosebud tip in the new space. If your wife doesn't like the looks she can crochet cozies to go over the bottles.
If ya' were a Gazinta ya'd have multiple options. Fire starter logs, buy some kindling, or my favorite get out the splitting ax and make your own kindling from some nice straight pieces with no knots.
A dozen pieces of kindling (about a log) arranged like a large tic-tac toe board with two logs on top. Plenty of room for air to get through. Wad some newspaper underneath the grate, light it and pat yourself on the back for a job well done.
