It only gets worse..........
Ever feel like an 8 ball following the cue ball into the pocket?
Did you ever just know you were going to have really bad luck?
Well send the heads off to Steve for him to inspect and go over. Doof Head Check (43 point) comes back my rear head is toast. The Exhaust guide hole is so over size that even an over sized guide wont do it. It was packed in LockTite!!!!! Now I sent this head back a year ago for a bad leak down test and it came back and tested fine in a leak down test. Guess the LockTite held for a bit.
The seals were not even motorcycle seals, the springs are shitz springs, the valve guides were cut too short on the top, and I don't know what else is wrong. I am sure HDWRENCH will expand.
Bottom line, 16 month ago I sent my stock heads to a "porter".
Total money in actual replacement cost is 512.74 from Zanottie's for new heads, paid 750.00 for the "port" job, and about 75.00 in shipping and have JUNK. Roughly 1350.00 down the tubes.
I will not name this "porter" but If I ever see someone wanting to send their heads off to this person I will PM them and BEG them to save their money.
Funny thing is this shop was second to none and then behind the scenes ownership changed and the person who I thought would be doing my heads had left the company, and I did not know until after my heads were returned to me.
Never did think I was making the power I should have. And I always thought it was the noise of the cams, but seems the President Doof thinks I may have been hearing head noise because of this shoddy and shitz workmanship.
Can you say valve geometry?
Rant over!!!!!!!!

Wow, that sucks for sure.
You're being tremendously calmer about being robbed than I would be. I'd probably be taking out full-page adds in all the major biker rags unless I got satisfaction from the "porter."

Wow LAF!
That is a horror story. Too bad you can't recover damages from the guilty party.

Well I am pissed but being pissed and HAVING to spend money is not a good mix.
This is a prime example of if I had known then what I know now type thing. It is spilt milk, toasted heads so to speak.
If you are going to play in the performance world long enough you will have issues and I accepted that.
This was a blatent rip off, with shoddy workmanship, and inferiors products then advertised.
It is not anyone on this board so no worries there.
Bottom line we are at the mercy of who we trust to do the work we cant. Just look at the reps of who you are sending you work off to and ask for confirmation from those on this forum that have used their services.
That is the spirit of the forums, not bashing and sour grapes.
Like I said if I EVER see this name come up I will warn whoever is contemplating going to this person.

WOW this is what make ppl in general "NOT TRUST" I really feel your pain man. It sucks that people in todays society would f**K over another person instead of being honest and saying look Im over my head on this job and apologize for the inconvenience of shipping the work to him and then having the Business ship it back NO CHARGE and explain the reason for not doing the work.
I really hope the JACKASS that did this to you reads this -- I for one would respect the Business and or person that was honest enough to say I cant do this or Im not qualified to do this type of work. In fact if they did after the fact become qualified in the future, I would send the work to him just for being honest.
I also agree Bro you should let everyone know on this and as many Forums as you can think of who Screwed you out of your money. Afterall he didnt give two shits about ruining your bike. So What the Hell why should you worry about his businesss or reputation.
Good Luck -- Remember good things happen to good people and you seem to be a genuinely good person.
Peace
Dan

Sorry
Sorry to hear such a sad story.
It is a crime to charge you for such poor workmanship and hide it from you.
Thanks for warning us about this vendor.
GMR will put you back on track and running sweet!!

(The positive list is tooo long to post, though I would be included... )

So, is SBC the name of the company or are those just the initials for the name of the company? Reporting a RIPOFF is not "bashing or sour grapes". It's a "service" to the other members who may send gear to them unknowingly. Just spit it out man.

Personally, I would file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General's office. At least these jerks would be put on notice.

I went to get a Zipper's torkster kit put on my XL. Zippers is close to me so I walked in the door. They sent me to their "authorized dealer". We struck a deal for Torkster kit, ignition, tach, pipes and dyno tune. List of parts was $2700.00. Total of $3400.00. Gave them my bike and they wanted parts money up front. The difference between the cost of parts and total was minimal so I gave them the full amount. Paid up front. Two weeks later I call and it seems they went out of business and another bike shop has my bike in parts. He tells me the 1st shop paid him and he will "get'er done". Two months later he hasn’t done a thing and now needs $650. It grew to $1499.00. The worst part is he didn’t put in a Torkster Kit, ignition or dyno tune. He simply bastardized it with his conversion work. It does run very well though. The long and short of it is ZIPPERS would not examine my bike to verify if one of their Torkster kits was installed. I wrote them a letter and I got a call and they would not look at my bike or give me a statement as to whether their work was on my bike. I need this verification if I want to go into court. Zippers is happy to stand by and let their customers get ****ed. I am proof of that.

LAF, didn't you also have your rocker arm support brackets gernade on you a while back. Man, your luck with motors is worse than mine.
I am sure the man in Prescott will get you running right this time.
Sorry for all your misfortunes, it is sad to know Murphy loves somebody more than me.
Thanks for posting the link. I had never heard of them, but I only trust about 5 of the head porters out there and Steve is on my short list.
Good luck and I hope you are back in the wind soon.

Thats too bad, sorry to hear about your problems.
I seem to remember a letter on their website a year or so ago talking about the internal falling out and the turmoil within the company. The letter insinuated that the outgoing member of the family may have done some shoddy work on purpose, of course they didn't say that explicity. The letter went on to say how they would make good on anything that came up. I don't think the letter is still posted.
I assume you have tried to work things out with the new management, I've never had any dealings with them but they have a great reputation for good work and customer service in the Sportster community. I'm sorry to hear they dropped the ball in your case. Let us know what their side of the story is, if you don't mind.
