Corbin's Customers Service Sucks!

If you buy a Corbin product don't expect good customer service, it is not good!

I purchased a Corbin Widowmaker to use with 2008 my Rocker C last October and was unable to use it until this spring. After using it one day I found that the seat had caused damage to my fender. I sent an e-mail off to Corbin regarding it and was told that the seat had been retooled because of this problem. When I first asked them to fix it all they did was apologize for the damage and said they would send me a new seat once the they received my old one.

It is now over one month later and I do not have the new seat and the only time I hear from them is when I send an e-mail asking for action on my seat and fender. After calling and sending e-mails several times with no response for about a month I was told that three people including Mike Corbin had looked at the pictures of the damage and this was their response:

"I checked into this for you and showed your pics to our production manager as well as Mike himself. We can repair the fender for you in-house. If you would like to keep the fender until a suitable time is available, we will repair it for you. We cannot issue any forms of payment or remittance for work done outside of our premises. We can make arrangements to have your fender picked up on our dime if need be."

Now I live in Minnesota and they are in California so I would be without the use of my motorcycle for over three to four weeks because of their poorly designed seat. My wife is also not able to ride with me because of their poor service, inefficient means of repair, and lack of a customer centered approach.

If you are interested in the correspondence between me and the company, please feel free to contact me, because their responses and analogies used were really poor. I would caution anyone buying a product from Corbin and would recommend their product to anyone because their customer service is terrible!

I have heard a lot of bad things about Corbin on this board, but I am surprised they were willing to repair your fender and pay for the shipping. They say they are willing to wait until it is convenient for you so why don't you wait until winter and ship it to them for repair?

Believe me, I would not be happy in your situation, but at least they are making an effort to rectify the problem. If they just told you to pound sand you wouldn't really have any recourse other than to try to sue them from one state to another (major PIA, expensive, hard to win). They probably want to see the fender in person to make sure they aren't getting scammed. I would arrange to send it in around January or February.

So they are replacing your seat, and willing to fix your fender and pay for shipping? Like already said, it sucks that it happened but the company standing behind their product and offering to replace and fix damage it caused at no cost to you IS NOT POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Just goes to show you, there is no pleasing some people.

1st time I ever heard of bad service from Corbin.
There once was this RUB that I new that kept going back and back to have the seat modified for his butt.
They just sucked it up and kept modifying it.
When I built my custom, I went to Corbin for the seat design I was looking for.
We worked for 4 or 5 hours till we got it the way I wanted it.
The only logo on that bike is Corbin's, which is stitched into the seat.
I don't advertise on my bikes for anyone unless they decide to pay me. ( I even machined Rivera's name off the manifold)
Corbin doesn't pay me but, their product and service is first rate.
The guys are cool and I use their product on all my bikes.

Perhaps you are not understanding my complaint it took them over a month to even reply to me after I had e-mailed several times and attempted to call two times. At first they did not even offer to fix the damage all I got was we will replace the seat and we are sorry about the damage. I sent the seat back and have not as yet received the new one and one month has passed since I sent the seat back. It was not until a month later that they offered to fix it. I sent them pictures of the damage that the seat had caused. It should not take that long to rectify a problem that was caused by a design flaw that they admitted to.

Corbin is notorious for their customer service. Some guys are treated OK and feel that Corbin is the cat's ass. Too many others have been hosed and know better.

I've used and liked there seats in the past, and I think for the price they are
probably one of the best seats on the market.

Unfortunately, the seat I bought from them last spring turned into a customer service
nightmare that will probably prevent me from doing business with them again.

I ordered their Performance Machine Phatail seat. I've seen it on other PM fitted
bikes and they look and fit good. I think they sent me the wrong seat but they deny it.
Out of the box the seat pan was sitting on the ECM that mounts on the rear fender,
causing about a 2 inch gap between seat and fender. We relocated the ECM but
there was still about 3/4 of an inch gap.

We talked to Corbin service rep and explained I was leaving for a 2 week vacation and
had to have a seat. We agreed to shave the pan where needed to get a better fit, then send the seat back during the winter for re-work.
When we sent the seat back, it returned about a week later.....untouched.
Called Corbin and was informed they would not repair the seat because we shaved the pan.
They also said the CSR that told us to go ahead and shave the pan no longer worked there.
Worked our way up the ladder to Sergio and he authorized a return.
They had it about 6 weeks and it came back last week.....untouched!

I really wish there was a way to make this seat work. I would be willing to pay to
get it right, but Corbin is insisting there is nothing wrong.

I've read if you live in California you can make appointments and they will fix stuff
like this on site while you wait. Heard the customer service at that location is excellent.
For me, that's just not an option.

FWIW I've heard it can be the same old can of worms.

I used these folks off and on for nearly two decades with spotty service. They had the product I wanted, not nec what I needed. In all cases they eventually came up with solutions to anything I was concerned or screwed over about....it was just time consuming.
