Is it just me?

or does everyone get the same attitude?
I try to do bussiness with my dealer when possible but I am on a fixed income which means I need to save a few bucks where ever I can.
Every time I mention to my Dealer parts person(s) that I may like to use an aftermarket product, the first thing out of their mouth is "It will void your warranty".
Now as I have come to understand it the Magnusson/Moss Act provides that I have the right to use non-OEM parts without having to worry about my warranty.
Is this lie a standard from all dealers?
Why havent they had their asses sued off?

Standard response, they can't actually void your warranty but they can try to make you believe they can....

Buying aftermarket parts takes food off their table. Dealers will always defend OEM parts, despite being made in some of the same factories and foriegn countries as thier own crap.

My recent primary chain and HD auto adjuster were made in Italy, as clearly stated on the box.

Not sure about you, but I sometimes tell the pimple-faced kids at my local dealership all the money I save NOT buying from them, just to watch them make faces........

It's a cheap thrill....

Some HD dealerships have wised up and will order and install the aftermarket for you. Better count on paying MSRP or worse.

Always remember that the dealer does NOT make the decision as to warranty/no warranty; that's up to the MOCO. That being said, its always good to have a relationship with a dealer. Just smile as they feed you the BS, call a couple of them by name and wave as you walk out the door!

The dealer I go to sells some aftermarket parts. when I bought my battery tender jr they pointed out that the one with the HD sticker was more because of the sticker. I don't think they deal with different tires though, just the HD branded ones.

The thing is, I would like to build a relationship with my dealer built on trust.
Things like this make it impossible to believe that if they lie to me about this, how can I believe they aren't lying about anything else?
I've been around the block trying to get a definitive position from my dealer, but all I get is double talk.
I think I'm gonna have to go to a different dealership from now on. there are three within 15 miles and more than you could want within 50.
