Parts in stock at local stealer

I was wondering if anyone else out here had problems wth the dealership carrying the parts your looking for and have them in stock. It seems like everytime I call them looking for a part, the answer is, "we can order it for you". Something as simple as a shifter shaft seal for a 07 nightster, no gots. Although, if I needed a T-shirt, they would certainley have that for me.

The good thing is that usually after it comes in and you get home to install whatever it is...it turns out to be for a different year or bike altogether. Yeahhh!

My local dealer is the same way.I needed a throttle cable, called and "oh sorry we have to order it".Called for a jiffy stand spring,"oh sorry we have to order it".Same for the saddle bag latch springs!
These parts were for a '06 Road Glide.
I had to get the cable from a dealer further away, got the jiffy spring from Reno HD during Street Vibs, and the latch springs from Zanotti's.

This could be caused by current economic situation. Inventory on the shelf costs money. I was looking at a part at a local dealer. The assistant manager came over and asked if I was going to buy it. When I balked, he immediately offered 15% off msrp. I bought the part.

I get my parts faster at a 20% discount from Jenni. My dealer never has anything either.

Well thats ok when you have time.
When you need it quick, some of these dealers are useless.Seems like they are willing to stock all of the chrome doo dads but not the wear and tear items that fail.

But that is the point. My local dealer takes a couple of weeks to get my parts, Jenni has it on my doorstep for less in a few days.

I also keep a few filters, orings, gaskets, bulbs etc in stock. Over time you know what you'll need. My bike was aproaching 100,000 miles so I ordered everything I would need for a belt change, didn't have to wait a day when I needed them.

It's a fluke that they didn't have your shift shaft seal, if they don't stock it, they should!
