Another Slam on High Country Harley.....

Well needless to say High Country is a total looser of an outfit..

begining of the story..
while my son was deployed I wanted to do something cool for him...
we were having a run of major blizzards here in Colorado a couple of years ago and it seemed like a great time to buy a motorcycle.

Well I find that this dealership that was only about 5 miles from my house had not sold a lot of bikes in the last few months.. Like only 2 or 3..
so I found an 01 FXDWG that looked pretty good and sounded good..
asked all the ususal questions including what was done when the bike was traded in last fall...
I was told that the bike had been given a full service including the engine oil, as well as the primary had been drained and inspected..
all the other usuall stuff was done as well...

well my son finally got home a couple of months ago and has been slowly getting to be able to ride more and more as time goes by..
he tells me that the clutch is not disengaging properly.. so we talk about getting an SE clutch to replace the stock one but it was getting so bad that I had decided to check it out before we ordered the SE clutch kit..
Now this bike has only gotten about 300 miles on it since I bought it 2006........ so anyway we open the derby cover and of course cant find much oil in the primary.. first problem..
next decide to drain the oil and find that it is thick with metal in it..
I then open the inspection and the chain is woefully out of adjustment and then the big suprise.. the tensioer shoe is broken.. now this is not something that would be easy to miss.. as I saw it without my glasses on and it took me only about 5 seconds to find it..
another High Country joke..
I am now going to go over the bike with the proverbial fine tooth comb..
those of you that still go to high country.. beware of the garbage that you are expected to put up with..
