Welcome to York, PA
Started out ride to NYC and on up to Bangor, Maine Saturday. One of the fellows riding with us decided to drop off his bike at the local dealership today in York to have his oil/tranny/primary fluids changed while we toured the HD Plant.
Instructions to the dealer service writer was only change the fluids.... Writer said it would be approx 2-2 1/2 hrs cause he was going to handle local riders first. No problem. Enjoyed the tour of the HD plant and got back to the dealership 2 1/2 hours later. Bill: $270.00. 2 1/2 hrs labor.. $270.00 to change the oil, tranny fluid and primary. Kinda hard to say never mind put my old oil back in.
OMG I'm in the business and if I charged that kind of $$$$ I wouldn't be in business long..
Welcome to York, PA.

Okay, no way should a 2-1/2-hour wait (while other riders' bikes are being serviced) translate into 2-1/2 hours of labor. It doesn't take that long to change the fluids. Didn't anybody squawk?

Oh, yeah.. He raised hell for 20-30 minutes but what are you going to do..put the used oil back in...that would probably be 4 1/2 hrs. more labor.
They are real rip off artist..

Well, I wasn't there, but I guess I would have been interested in hearing their explanation for how a simple three-hole fluid change could take 2-1/2 hours.

That's outrageous. Report those crooks to the Better Business Bureau. Also, call your credit card company and refute that bill.

My buddy has contacted the York dealership and they are discussing a refund. I saw the copy of his work order and it indicated change the 3 fluids, that's all.
Guess the dealership is now saying it was a mis-communication between he service writer and the tech. Guess the tech can't read English. It couldn't have been clearer.
He is still writing Harley and the York, PA Better Business Bureau a pretty nasty letter about the whole thing.

You should have stayed over until Sunday and you could have discussed the matter with Willie G.. He, his wife Nancy, Bill and Karen Davidson were at Laugerman's.
My 3 Year old Granddaughter got her Dora hat signed by them all.

Somebody mentioned that they were going to be there over the weekend.
I rode with them from Las Vegas to Milwaukee on the 100th Ride Home in '03. All of 'em signed my 100th Anniversary Ticket.

Correction!
My mistake, They were there in the afternoon on Saturday for a customer appreciation cook out.
Had you known that, you could have hung around the area sightseeing and returned for the satisfaction of handing the service invoice to WillieG and asking "Why's it cost $270 for an oil change on a Harley,or is it because this dealer treats all out of towners this way?"
My guess would be that you'd have gotten a full refund and a burger.

still doesnt make sense. did the tech do other work that took 2 hrs? what else did he do?
if tech only changed the 3 fluids, they should have listed book rate. probably .4-.6 hrs total.
if they charge real time, you shouldnt have to pay for slow/lazy, and the writer was lying when he said your bike would have to wait till he finished local services.
challenge the charges on your card.
