Kuryakyn Warning!
WARNING!
I just purchased a tour pack extension from the Kuryakyn web site. I made my shipping coince, which was estimated at $24.
When the package came, the shipping charge was $78. I called Kuryakyn on this and there response was TS.
Let the buyer beware. I will neve buy another Kuryakin item again.

You live in Canada, right? You KNOW you have to pay customs fees!! If you have a friend that lives in the USA you could ship to them and have them then ship to you. Description: GIFT then there are NO fees.

The following is Clearly stated on the Kuryakyn web site under Terms and Returns.
For International customers we accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. International customers must pay any customs charges, VAT, taxes, or other costs, in addition to the shipping charge. For customers in Indonesia or Singapore, we require prepayment by wire transfer only.
Also after over 11 years of dealings with Kuryakyn I find it hard to believe their response to his complaint was TS.

OK, California!! Quoted shipping, UPS ground + fuel surcharge $33.95, UPS 3 day select + fuel surcharge $88.95. Each of the above rates are for 30lb billable weight which you and I would have to pay. With the discounts UPS awards major shippers for volume shipping because they pay only actual weight of package there could easily be a $10.00 difference. Maybe he made the wrong choice for shipping.

They can't. shipping changes, the dollar changes and customs changes. It is hard enough to tell the shipping in the US. If you are shipping different items all of the time, it is really hard to stay on top of. That sucks, they should have been closer, but that happens. What I hate is to have a place say that they can't ship an item, and when you show up to pick it up, they charge you a "handling charge" that was never stated. They point to the fine print that says a handling fee may be charged, but the fee shuld be in the auction. Any absolute should be listed.

I've done a lot of business with Kuryakyn over the years and have never had a problem. Since they are not the ones determining the actual cost of shipping, the one to blame would be the freight company.....they would be the ones to ask, "why so much". Most Kuryakyn products are good quality and HD has even bought their rights to several of their products so they say HD on them instead. If your unhappy with dealing directly with Kuryakyn ,most volume retailers like J&P, Dennis Kirk, etc. carry the same line, and generally sell it for a little less. Their shipping policies/explanations may be easier for you to figure out. I guarantee you, we all are gonna be payin' thru the nose for shipping in the future.....especially heavy and bulky items.

Mr Rigid, First you apparently flunked geography or at the very least you don't know State postal abbreviations...and then go off on the guy in the process making yourself look like a retard. At least read the following posts before digging the hole deeper. Jeez. If he was quoted 24 bucks, OK, well $30 to $40 would be feasible considering fuel surcharges. BUT $75? I'd demand at least an explanation, if not returning it and disputing the charges.
I saw on Motosport.com that the item has free fed-ex shipping (2 day). So maybe the answer is shopping around FIRST and speaking to a sales rep and getting the quote & charges from the get-go, with no surprises.

[quote=Milehog;1374653]Yeah Mr Rigid, I'm sure it's all BigBen's fault.
He made the wrong choice all right, choosing to do business with Kuryakyn.
I'm going to say it again, MAYBE BigBen clicked the wrong choice for shipping!!! I doubt seriously if most of these so called thieving vendors make it their practice to triple or quadruple charge for shipping. Listed below is the final page of the Kuryakyn shopping cart. It's the one with the shipping charges.
STANDARD DELIVERY
Invoice Total Rate
Up to $99.99 $6.99
$100-$149.99 $12.99
$150-$199.99 $16.99
$200-$299.99 $18.99
Over $300.00 FREE
This amount may vary depending upon availability of items ordered. You will receive your package in 5-7 business days. This option is not available to residents of Alaska or Hawaii.

This is an estimate only. Actual shipping costs will be based on size and weight of package.
You will receive your package in 3-4 business days. This option is not available to residents of Alaska or Hawaii.
UPS SECOND DAY AIR (BLUE LABEL)
1 lb or less, some exclusions apply $24.00 EST.

Your package is guaranteed to be delivered on the second business day if your oder is placed by 1:00 PM central time.
UPS NEXT DAY AIR (RED LABEL)
1 lb or less, some exclusions apply $75.00 EST.

Diggerpine here; I ordered Kuryakyn items through my HD Dealer Parts Dept.. So far, I have paid for the advertised price in the Kuryakyn catalog plus city tax (7.75%). The item usually arrives in 7 days.
