Another tragic end
My wife's youngest sons father killed himself last night. Gun to the head. He left the poor kid a horrible memory that will haunt him for ever. The son found him.
He was a career alcoholic. He was an example for someone that couldn't come to terms with his addiction. To many end in tragedy like this.
If you think you have a problem well you do and do something about it. Save your family the DEVASTATION!!!!!!

I hope the best for all of you, including your step-son

Thanks, at least we all live in the same city.
Mess is right. You should see that house he "existed" in. My God
it's bad.

It is a good thing that they have you to turn to Vindex. Your strength comes through in your posts here and I'm sure it will come through for them, also...
May God's peace imbue and abide with you all...

Thanks for the kind words.
I had a car accident today also. Some old man ran a red light and hit me. I'm glad I wasn't riding, I ride 99.9% of the time. I was on my way to buy garbage bags to clean up the room where he did it. The bed was the spot.
What a day.

Right on all counts. They had me go back before the police came to get the suicide note. I looked at him and had those exact thoughts!!!
Booze bottles all over. Overflowing ashtrays. Squaller(sp) is the only way to describe his living conditions.

Thanks.
I think the meaning here is some are completely overtaken by the disease. He died years ago but the body continued on and being incredibly self centered ended in the most dramatic controlling way possible.

I hope that you will be able to step up to the plate. You might be the best thing to happen for him. You are not his father, but you can be a role model. When I took a look at my granddaughter after my daughter brought her home, I knew I had a reason to live. She opted not to put the father's name on the birth certificate, so she carries my name.
She is now nine, her mom is remarried and she lives with us most of the time(mom's work is very demanding) I would have it no other way. She knows her biological father, but I am her paw-paw and I feel I have a real reason to be there for her. I might be on total disability, but I still take her to her softball and soccer games, and sometimes pick her up from school. When "Donuts with Dad" happens at school, I am the one invited.
I hope that you can get even 5% of the joy I get being there for her.
Good luck! Just being there makes all the difference

Take you a glass of water. Make it against the law. See how good the water tastes. When you can't have any at all.
Just sayin..........

i truly feel sorrow for what you and your family are left to deal with. i have known a few that felt ending it all was the only option and were successful but not to that devestating an end. i cant imagine the impact on your wifes son. my prayers are with all of you. i guess that why they say "but for the grace of God, there go i". you know we are here to reach out to if you want.

My condolances to all. Hard to deal with the aftermath & trying to be strong doing it. Is not easy. ( My sisters husband went that route & I was "voted" by my family to meet her @ work to tell her. ) Tuffest thing I ever did in my life.
His son and all the family members should seek some kind of help. Cleargy, pro help or just someone to listen to. Family group together to talk. If it achives nothing more than everyone venting to not hold in feelings. Venting helps. Holding it in dosen't.
Vindex, I work for a railroad & joined a Peer Support program years ago. It is for co-workers that have had critical insidents. Talking to other co-workers that have had critical insidents. I do this on my own time, for free to help out other co-workers that are going thru the same thing I've had happen to me in the past 38 years. One of the things we were taught was it's not about what I went thru, it's about what they are going thru. Issues. What ever they say wouldn't upset me as I've been thru it many times. What really matters is talking. To help all to deal with it. Dave
