Back from the dead
Well,
I've been a member here since 2007 I think and somewhere under TC88 Engines section is my hell of an expensive nightmare 124" build that nothing went right on.
But I'll be saving the motor rebuild till last and will get into that when the time comes...
Oct 2008 was the last time I rode my bike. Especially after I tore down the motor and discovered a large chunk of piston skirt missing and the cylinder sleeve was cracked (S&S parts).
After seeing that & plus I had about 120K miles on her anyway (about 20K of that with the 124"), I stripped the entire bike down to the bare frame and just stared at the parts daily. And continued to stare at it them till just now...
All the money I had put into that motor just made me sick... About $13K in all I was screwed out of by a local shop that went abruptly out of business and left me holding the bag.
Local H-D shop wouldn't touch the TC 124" of course. They never have been good for anything but those parts you can only get from the MoCo...
So....
Here's where I'm at now!
I'm over here in Afghanistan for 3 more months then it's time to head back home to sunny Florida.
Meanwhile, my 2001 FLSTCI frame has just arrive at Bare Knuckle Choppers in Missouri for some up & out frame-work.
Paul Durfee is in the process of building me a Classic 14" over Girder front end.
Chica Custom Cycles will be providing a 21" Invader front rim.
Currently plan on using the 17" Deuce solid rear I had been running. Just can't see paying $3K+ to put a fatter rear tire under her....
And once all the rolling chassis is mocked up to my satisfaction, I will start looking at the 124 TC motor again.
Will try and find the pic's I have somewhere here on V-Twin forum to post as a before...
This is going to be fun!
Am really leaning towards a carb as I don't think all those wires, ECM and other stuff can be hidden as I'm going for an ultra clean look.
Guess I will cross that bridge when motor time comes.
This is going to be a long venture. Perhaps even surpassing the member that used to be on here with the 131" long ago (Tim?). I think he got banned or something I'm not sure...

Still 2 weeks back-log before they get to my frame at Bare Knuckle. Just seeing pics of it would be great once they start doing their work...
Can't start on the girder until the frame specs are known.
First change in plans: Going with a 131" instead of the same 124". Hell, I need new cylinders & pistons anyway so why not!
It's only money right??? LOL!
Plus my wife loves riding so she just sighs and goes with it!

Thanks Scrubs! Will do my best as I have a lot to come home to. And lot's of fun to be had with this build!
Dan,
Yes and I'm stripping this ST down to the bare-bones minimum. Be a far cry from the 700lb Heritage it started life as!

Finally back home and man what a change of scenery... LOL!
FedEx brought my frame home this afternoon. Wow, what awesome looking welds!
Final specs are 8" up and 38 deg rake. Have to call Paul Durfee and have him start on the girder now that the frame is complete.
I'll try and post some before / after pics of the frame for comparison.
Now it's on to building the rolling chassis and get that all smoothed out....

Could only find one "before" frame pic. But comparing to the new frame pics, the difference is obvious...
