New build and many questions

Newbie to the forum so, hey all and thanks in advance for any answers and tips you guys may have.

Now for the tech stuff, I have been riding my stock 02 FXDWG for way too long now and I am wanting something new and different. My ultimate goal is to have a retro looking, mild 35/36 raked springer, 180 rear custom when all is said and done.

Here is what I have so far, a wrecked 2000 Heritage and my 2002 Wide Glide. Should be plenty enough parts to get me started.

The FL is hit pretty hard in the front, the down tubes are wasted and the engine/tranny is shoved back, but for the most part the frame is pretty straight and the swing arm is okay.

The frame doesn't scare me because I am wanting to add some backbone stretch to begin with, so I was going to cut out the backbone and downtubes anyways. (How much at this point is still up in the air)

As for the engine, the front jug has some cooling fins nocked off and the case is busted as well as the inner and outer primary. Not to fear, I have a perfectly good TC88A donor. I KNOW I KNOW, the mounts are not the same. Here is where my almost 20 years experience as a machinist/fabricator comes in handy. So I guess my first question is this: Are the front mounts of a TC88A the same as an EVO/SHOV/PAN? Also along these same lines: Can a TC88A be mounted rigid?

Now obviously a '00-on softail swingarm cannot bolt up to the dyna tranny. So here I was thinking about coming across a pre-99 softail tranny and then fab some kind of an adapter plate up to mount the rear of the engine. So with that being said, Could a guy use a stock 2002 FXD primary between the TC88 and a pre-99 tranny? Again, I have the skill to make a spacer between the primary and engine to offset the tranny for the 180 rear. And I will have many questions about doing this also, but for now I think I have enough on the table for a good topic.

Again, thanks in advance for any answers and tips you guys can come up with.

new build...

1. Front mount on the A should be the same as an evo
2. The TC88A can be mounted rigid.
3. You can get an adaptor plate to mount the TC88A in an evo frame.
4. The TC 88A will vibrate you to death mounted rigid.
5. Custom frames are available pre raked and stretched for the
88A.
6. Always question a frame in a wreck for stability.
