Need advice...

I have a WLA-45. I'm thinking bout building custom bike Zero-style on it. As I know max speed WLA-45 is 45m\h. Could I reach on this bike 100-120m\h if I'll get a Bekker 6-speed gearbox or RevTech 5-speed one?
Thanks everyone who can help me.

Not enough horse power in that motor to go that fast.

You could go to the sporty top end trick, but that bike will still have to be a lot lighter to get more the 70 mph out of it. This is one of the reasons that they "chopped' or "bobbed" bikes.

Need advice

Thanks bros! Sorry for my ugly english!
I like simple things!
I'll get from WLA only an engine and docs. Cutted WL spring fork, original one. Willwood disk brakes. Open primary. Only kick. I'm thinking about magneto. No front fender, cutted rear one. New goose-neck rigid frame, I hope frame will be from Shinaya Kimura Zero Engineering. 16'R 500 classic tyres. That's all! wow! forget! Short short pipes stright to earth. I think it'll be like this one:

I understand that there is a Shovel one and front tyre is 18' but this siluette I'd like to gain.
There's a qwestns: What do You think is it more harmony whith both 16' tyres or not?
And were I can get a reliable magneto for WL?
with great respect and thanks.

Next qwestn...

Has anybody installed thishttp://www.shop.morrismagneto.com/pr...=2&productId=5 ?
The qwestn is: if I need (russian goverment rules) normal front\back\turn lights is it better powered by generator, or is by this magneto?
Just thinking: better side is more electricity on bike and 12volt-system on lights if there will be both generator and magneto. And the bad side is the weight of generator.

sounds like a great build.
I would go for the resto build myself.
if this is your only ride I could see the upgrades tranny and stuff.
but you are never going to get that motor to be reliable at the speed you are talking about.
i would love to restore one of those and just putt it around at 40-45 mph. But hey thats just me!
Good Luck with the build.

Generator will be my advice. Easier to start the engine with points and condenser than with a magneto. The extra weight of a generator is nil compared to the total weight of the bike and rider.

There have been a few stories about the few Harley Davidson Motorcycles left in Cuba. They have been getting along without parts for 45+ years, they usually end up using Russian parts and modify them. Good luck!
