New to the forum, Need some chopper advice.

Well guys, im new to the forum, and new to harley. I just got a 1996 sportster 883, and well, its alittle too small for me. So I decided I wanted to lengthen the back end of the frame and give it that chopper look. I dont however want to go hardtail. Is there a way i can turn this bike into a softail chopper? Has anyone gone this route? Please send pics if you have. Thanks guys.

There's a lot of aftermarket frames for that motor/drivetrain set up.
They can get pretty pricy though.

Hey Pirate! Have you checked the clubchopper.com forum? Now, I am NOT trying to send you elsewhere!!! But it possibly may have been discussed there, so it may be worth it to check it out.

This place, however, is THE BEST! Lots and lots of great info and great people here too!

I know a guy here in MA, that could probably stretch your existing frame for you...though I believe that is fairly costly as well...He's been doing customs LONG before it became popular on TV...

I can put you in touch with him if you'd like...
Pat

Hey Pirate:
If you can swing the bucks, a good way to do that is with the Atlas Precision softail frame for sportster. makes a RIGHTEOUS looking scooter.
re: hardtail: been riding one for 23 years, no back trouble. set them up right, they are not what people think. I have done 600 miles a day on mine, many times.
hope this helps,

check redneck engineering or sucker punch, they both have chopper kits that uses all your donor parts. you can build for around $10,000
