Any one got an opinion on choppershox?

Anyone ever rode a hardtail with these "choppershox" the custom ones for seats. Opinions?

have used these and they are way less than $100. adjustable preload, compression damping.

I have been wondering the same thing but I would like to hear from someone that rode a bike without them and then rode the same bike after they were installed. You may like them on a new build. but how can you truly compare them to a spring mounted seat if you don't have a baseline for the comparison?

I have about 500 miles on my recent rigid build with choppershox. There is some "cushioning". Definetly better than the little spring set up thats a common alternative. The shocks only have at max less than an inch of travel, so its not like your riding a dresser, but it is definetly more forgiving over bumps and tracks than my other rigid with a normal type seat. Over all, I am happy with them and would buy them again given the right build. Hope this helps

I have the dual Choppershox and their larger steel pan (on a rigid) and had tried the regular springs and pin-type(?). The security of the mounting is a GREAT help in itself, as the traditional methods just suck. I also use a Fab Kevin seat bracket, which is the best piece of work I've seen....again, the traditional front brackets just suck.
As for the ride with the Choppershox, they make a huge difference in rebound and seat stability, and enough damping to allow for riding even over RR tracks without feeling like you're gonna fly off or bust a nut. It is hard to feel the actual shock absorbing effect, but it surely is there, as I can ride with only the steel pan, without padding. Also you can get different spring weights. I am using the retrofit mount temporarily. Hope this helps some.
