BMC Bobber (u there Stinkboto)

Anyone have a newer (06/07) BMC bobber with a revtech 88? I am thinking about purchasing one and would like to hear people's experiences with them. I believe a member Stinkboto has one. You out there Stinkboto?

Hey I'm here! I just saw your post.....
I have a '06
My previous bike was a Sportster so I fit right in to this bike as far as it being lightweight and nimble. A lot more powerfull! The Revtech 88 is a stong engine, no probs, I went with the apes, they seemed more comfy than the drag bars, and I changed the grips as well. My bike came with Santee exhaust...I heard the new ones come with a Kirker 2 into 1
The ride is decent with the sprung seat, riding a rigid is fun with this seat, make sure u get the upgraded Corbin/BMC saddle as opposed to the tiny cross stitched bicycle seat...huge difference. Write back if u have any questions..

Yeah, I'm looking at one with similar specs as yours. 06, Santee exhaust, sans the ape hangers though. It's just like yours actually after looking at your pics. That's a BAD BAD bike dude. Gotta love those ole' school looks!

I was mostly concerned about the RevTech as I've seen a lot of posts around here bashing the RevTech 100. Most of the posts were old though and I haven't seen any posts about the 88.

I'm also wondering what's up with the warranty if you don't live near one of their dealers. You have any info on that?

Yeah the 88 seems to be holding up w/no probs, just follow your proper break in and u should be fine.
I had a similar problem with having a dealer nearby. I had to travel a couple of hours away to buy my bike. Since then , Arlen Ness who is only about a half hour from me carries BMC now. Anyway, according to BMC if u cannot take your bike to an authorized dealer u can take it to your local mechanic, but any work needs to be authorized first by BMC. I guess your mechanic when authorized would then do the work, charge you and then you get reimbursed. Hope this helps. How far away is your dealer? Or are u buying used?

I'm buying new from a dealer (online) in Arkansas. The closest one to where I live in Tallahassee, FL is 6 hours away in Georgia so I would be taking the bike for maintenance/repairs here in Tallahassee.

I'm sure it'll be sketchy trying to deal with BMC for repairs at a non-dealer but I think it's worth it for the deal I'm getting. I'm still a little nervous about this all since 1 - I've never had a V-Twin. I used to have a Triumph and 2 - I don't know much about BMC other than they make a great looking bike. Your recommendation helps ease my concerns though.

I hear ya, if it would make u feel better u should check out the BMC website and click on the contact us link to e mail them and ask them any questions u got. Or call them direct in Oregon and ask for a guy named Rev(as in RevTech) he will help u! I hope your experience will be as good as mine. Let me know how it works out for ya!
BTW welcome to the Forum!

Yeah, I think I'll call them tomorrow. Thanks for your prompt help bro! I'm sure we'll be chatting on here some more in the near future. I'll post some picks once I get the bike.
