I only speak from personal experience on this site.
All the guys here I know and ride with at some time or another give up on the SS and go to a Mik.
They get too damn tired of playing with the SS to get it to be proper.
Yeah, it runs like a raped ape in drag racing but, the mileage and temperment while dealing with traffic and passing gets to be a pain.
The only knock with the Mik is that it cannot deliver enough fuel for big block motors at a high rpm.Thats why Mikuni came out with the 48mm beast.
There's one carb that has the best of both Mikuni and S&S, and thats the PSI Big Air carb.
It has no short comings and works as good as injection.
The problem is that the sonofabitch costs a thousand bucks or more.
He'll have to drop the price or go out of business before I pop for one but, thats the carb I would use.
Until then, I stick with Mikuni and have great throttle response, mileage and good power.

Each has its own +'s and -'s. My last carb bike I used the SE CV 44 I loved it .

Nowhereman, thanks for the honest, experienced, opinion. I totally agree with, go with what ya know, I'm glad I have the EFI and love it.
