forcewinder air filter

well at least I think thats what they are called ,
has anyone used a forcewinder air filter on a twin cam,
as I am looking at it they bend forwards from the carburetter giving a bit more leg room, also are they good for performance and how would they cope when its tipping with rain, like it is a lot of the time over here .
I would be very greatfull for any views good or bad.

cheers steve

Alot of guys use that intake, I've read that they generaly have no problems in the rain, but there is also a water-resistant mesh sock you can slide over the filter if it starts to rain to keep the majority of the water out of the engine. I've run the SE intake without the ham can a long time, with no problems in heavy rain, but you may have to reoil the filter more often.

what is your engine build?

Cheers for the reply Rockbiter, I might see if I can pick one up for a reasonable price over here, my engine build is as follows,

95" big bores with 211 cams , headwork done by a guy called Rick Wikes he ported them and installed larger exhaust valves I run a mikuni 42, it has a 6 speed od box and screaming eagle clutch spring and a vpc clutch. its been like that for about 20,000 miles and has done me good.
I may have some money to spend on it in the winter and was thinking of going to 103"( will it make much difference to the ride? I am not worried about dyno figures) or should I think bigger.
The bike by the way is a heritage.

I have the the Forcewind aircleaner on my 2007 Road Glide. Buddy has the the Screaming Eagle air cleaner Stage 1 kit on his 2008 Road Glide. We both run the same pipes and both have Power Commanders with custom maps (not downloaded).

Tuner stated that in his experience (20 years on a Dyno) and from tuning our two bikes that the stock air cleaner cover with teh Scraming Eagle air filter actually works better than thet Forcewinder.

And you don't have to get all particular when you hit you bike with a high pressure hose or when it rains. Buy it if you like the looks, thats it. I do not believe it affords you any more leg room either.
