Big_Cheese wants to know Dino or Syn?
Super E accelerator pump question

I've got a circa 1996 S&S Super E carb on my bike. I downloaded the tuning instructions from their website and had at it a while back. When I got to the part of the tuning where you back the screw out to allow the accelerator pump to begin functioning again, I noticed that instead of it atomizing it's charge of fuel, it seems to kind of spray a sheet of fuel into the throat of the carb. It that how they normally function? Or should it be atomizing the gasoline more? Just wondering if I have an issue here or if that's just how they are.
Thanks for any help!
Al

Look at it this way.The accelerator pump is kind of like a squirt gun.

I put one of these Triple X (XXX) power boosters on my old 98" shovelhead (S&S E). Takes place of the stock emulsion tube. My accelerator pump was adjusted to put just a small amount of gas when throttled. Ran awesome. It had 100 hp/100 tq. I also installed a thunder jet kit.

S&S carbs work, but they're gas buckets. Yes, that's the way the accelerator pump works, it just hoses fuel in. Adjust it as lean as you can to save your gas mileage.

I ran a XXX Super G on my 103, and it ran like a raped ape. Got tired of the crappy gas mileage, put a Mik 45 on.

True...S&S will drink gas, but will perform well..I tried the mikuni 45 on my 98 fatboy. I just couldnt get it adjusted right. So I went with another S&S E.... I would also tune it a little lean

lol.... I hear ya cheese. I felt that the emulsion tube conversion alone helped a lot..... Let us know if you get one and the difference it makes.....

Will do on reporting back, but first I have a question. I have recently installed a Thunderjet on my Super E in the recommended position. Will the emulsion tube of the Thunderjet get in the way of installing the XXX power booster device? I haven't really paid much attention to where the accelerator pump nozzle is located in the carb throat. I could look for myself I guess, but without having that XXX part in hand to look at, I cannot really be sure of if there's room in there for both. What say you?
