Carb flows over....

Mikuni card 42mm...... it over flows...not always. and sometimes at idle..sometimes after rideing a few miles.....

Checked the float level..cleaned carb out..bowl is clean. no dirt or anything..'.. It does have a vac line connected to a switch between the cyl...

runs great.just overflows at times..

cant find any reason for it to be overflowing..unless the float is bettin old and sinking....

... whats the switch for?..

It sounds like the tank may not be venting. Inother words, pressure is builing up and forcing fuel out of the overflow. Next time it does that, loosen the fuel cap and see if it stops. Hope that helps.

Check the vapor valve beside your battery that vents your tank.. mine was in upside down and holding pressure on the tank and blowing fuel from the carb over flow. I just bought a service manual off Ebay and it says the LONG nipple must be on TOP and the Short nipple goes to the bottom.. My tank no longer has pressure on it.. It was like that when I bought the bike from the original owner, dont know if it has ever been changed or came from Harley like that. They are not just check valves, they have a small spring and ball and other stuff inside that make them worth $18.00 from Harley!! haha And keep fuel from running out when your bike is on its side?!?!

Angry overflow up date..

OK ..i checked everything...i mean everything and adjusted..cleaned ETC..now !!! this is what i noticed....

driving normal..roll mon throttle//all ok...BUT when i get on it..twist the throttle ,accelerated TO and holding 70-80 ....the next stop sign ..its over flowing again...

and it sounds like it may be getting to much gas at high speeds....

Thats amazing!! You got up to 80 in Ca....ha Never been there but I used to watch CHIPS!! it was bumper to bumper back then..I dont know about the switch.. i have the two holes plugged off on the right side of my MIK. and have no problems with it. It did over flow when I first put it on but I could loosen the gas cap and it would not do it. the vapor valve was in upside down, no problem since I changed that. When you say switch are you talking about Ca. emmisions stuff or the fuel petcock on the gas tank? Some petcocks are vacuum also. You dont have a black plug on the vent tube above the fuel line do you? I dont know what else to say, yours may have something hooked up that mine does not being in Ca..
