CV carb question....again

Hey all,
I'm a newbie and hate to ask the same question you've heard a million times.....but here goes.

Just bought my 06 Sportster 1200 low. Bought Vance and Hines short shot staggered pipes and Kuryakin torque cones. Will probably get an air intake and a powerslide kit as well and then jet the carb.
In your infinite experience with these.....what jets do you guys recomend I use? Right now it's running just a hair lean....gets hot VERY quickly in traffic. (drilled baffles out 30 min after buying the bike....) I'm a technician at an Acura dealer here in Nashville for 17 years. I plan on doing all the work myself but an Acura is a different animal than a Harley! So I'm asking for advice from those that know.

Thanks in advance.....

You might be better of with a simple rejet before diving into a thunderslide kit.

Go up one on the pilot.
Shim the needle
Adjust a/f mixture screw

That should get you a close start, and you are able to adjust more if needed.

Look here for some pics and more ideas

There's a very good jet kit from Jireh cycles for $30.Just put 1 in my 99 sporty works great. Used the richer needle[comes with 2]

On my 06 1200 when I installed Cycle Shack slip ons and a SE aircleaner I used a 45 low speed jet and 1988 1200 needle (N65C) I believe it was. Bike ran great, pretty much spot on as far as mixture goes.
