there's got to be a better way

I have a 93 electra glide classic,new top end ,valve job,and ev-27 cam.Everything else is 15 years old and stock with 51000 miles on it.Bike was running very rich, now wont run at all.Carb is filthy harley stealership wants $275 to rebulid!Hell i can buy a new mikuni on ebay for that,anyways isnt there a way to salvage my old carb?By the way I am 429 miles into break in of new pistons and cam.Carb worked before dont know what happened

If it was running rich, was it getting enough air? check air filter.

are plugs needing replacement? well, they likely are now but maybe you let them go too far?

as for the carb...I'd be surprised if you couldn't find a rebuild kit and do it yourself.

I'm almost a complete newb and I rebuilt my S&S E this winter. It wasn't easy but it wasn't hard either. Just gotta RTFM and take it slow.

google search keihin carb rebuild (assuming it's a stock carb)

have you done the mod to allow access to the air/fuel mixture?

I think after you get everything off carb the most important thing is to make sure you blow out every port and or orfice with air, all it takes is one piece of crude to make it run rich or lean!!

Pull it apart and soak it in a can of carb cleaner. If that doesn't work a rebuild isn't that difficult. The hardest part of a rebuild is adjusting oxygen to fuel ratio...
