Bad CV carburetor

OK long story short. 98 Lowrider 1340 started running ragged at any steady speed. I replaced plugs, wires, coil, rebuilt the carb, drained gas(twice), replaced fuel line, petcock and cleaned the K&N air filter thoroughly. When I put new plugs in it, it runs great for about 30 miles then does the same thing! Fouls the plugs with gas not oil. They are smut black and dry.
I finally threw in the towel and took it to a local shop. He kept the bike for 2 weeks, then called and said it was fixed. 25 miles later, same thing. I marked the bolts on the air cleaner when I put everything back together the last time to see what the shop would check. Nothing has moved except they changed the plugs. When I called to tell them it wan't fixed, they said the carb was bad and needed replacing. Do the carbs go bad or do they just need rejetting? Thanks.....................

You may not have a carb issue at all.Sounds like your ignition module or pick-up may be going away.

Is the carb. modified at all? Is the idle mixture plug removed? If so, what's it set at? How'bout the float level/ condition of the float mounting pin in the carb. body?

Antonio Pendejo is an unknown quantity at this point
There is a little tiny o-ring under the idle mix screw. If this o-ring is displaced it will cause the symptoms you describe.
