Choke Trick
Greetings,
Don't know if this is the right place for this but I ride a Dyna and it works on her so here goes.....
I have always had a problem with the cable operated choke on some scooters returning to OFF too easily causing the bike to die while warming up if the friction adjustment is worn or too slick.
The previous owner of the DWG I have now came up with this trick, it works and is cheap to implement.
Here is the trick "choke-holder-open-gadget" in parking position on the throttle cable where it's easy to keep up with:
When ready to start up the scooter for warmup, pull out the choke knob and place the clip on the cable like this which firmly holds the choke open:
After warmup, you can easily reach down with your left hand and remove it so the choke returns to off and then clip it back onto the throttle cable by the grip for safe storage and take off!
Hope this helps somebody!!

There is a small round plastic fitting behind the choke knob that can be hand tightened to prevent the choke knob from moving in. It is a threaded fitting - but do no over tighten and break the plastic.

Put an HD emblem on it and the dealer will charge $39.99 for them.

nice trick. I have this issue with my Deuce and usually just hold it open until it warms. With 105 degree days here..it warms pretty quickly.
Thanks for the trick.

I never use my enrichner either. I guess my bike is not cold natured like some are. If it's cold outside I will lock the throttle at 1k for a minute and then Zoooom, Zoooom.

Yep, me too..
I guess you're happy with that paper clip thingie.. I would just fix it properly..
& if the back is cracked, a bit of JB Weld will make it good as new..

Another one of those oxyymorons creeping in...
A $20 trip to the dealer and it's good as new...
Oh wait a minute, then it is new...

Greetings,
In all honesty, I should have repaired the friction adjustment while I had the carb off to install the Dynojet kit.
For now, it works and fortunately in the 105 degree Texas heat we've had lately it's not needed much....
I'll put it on the "to do" list!

intake manifold gasket leak
I had a post in the engine mod section about my bike pinging and found it had an intake leak around the intake flanges. I installed new seals and fired it up and the leak was gone. I rode a couple hundred miles yesterday and noticed the pinging was getting worse again so I checked the intake for leaks and found it leaking again at the flanges again .
I installed the manifold and gaskets by following the service manual, is there a trick or different method to keep them from leaking? Could it be a bad manifold?
Thanks, Harless

I've gotta use the enrichner for the first 5 min or so of startup. I'm glad I can snug and loosen up the friction knob when needed. The paper clip is kinda cool though.
