However...went to Austin past week and when I got close to Austin and then in Austin traffic, bike began spitting as if it had water in the gas. My thought was it must be the coil breaking down (long term travel, coil very hot) and took it to Cowboy Harley there (they had great attitude and likeable). The tech took the carb apart and told me the spring in these kits are too light...and he and the service manager suggested a larger carb. They said that basically the slide just bounces up and down when in the transition zone causing the dit...da...dit...da. Don't think they checked the coil. Told me plugs looked good, nice and tan. Rode over to the Texas Hills and when I got there, the bike really ran bad at low throttle....just kept the rpms up. On the return trip, the closer I got to home the better it ran...Now back to minimal da...dit...da...dit...da again. Elevation difference probably isn't more than four or five hundred feet...Couldn't be elevation could it? So what ya think?? Is this a Dakota Kid/Woods issue?? HEEELLP......

500 ft wouldn't make a damn bit of difference unless you were on the ragged edge of lean to begin with.
Humidity on the other hand is something that drag racers pay attention to.
Large humidity changes can effect mixture ratios in high performance motors.
This points back to your bike's fuel / air ratio.
Have the electrics checked; (coil) if no problems are found, then it's your fuel system.
You could of gotten a bad tank of gas going into town?
