Thumbs down super g, lean at hwy speed

i installed a used super g during the winter, and im having trouble getting the jetting figured out. first of all, the engine is a 96" evo. 3 5/8 bore , 4 5/8 stroke with mild head porting, flat top pistons, dyna 2000i ignition, and a woods w6h cam and thunderheader 2-1 pipe. jets are slow - 32 main is a 74. there is a davinci style booster installed when i got the carb. the thing will run throung the gears and pull like crazy , untill you role off the throttle to cruise at 60 mph , the bike sputters and cuts out, misses, untill you roll on the throttle again. the only way i can ride at 60 mph is to pull the choke. ive tried changing jets but the problem is always the same around 60mph cruising. could this carb booster be delaying the main jet to start?

check to see if the main jet air-bleed has been modified( drilled out and uses jets) This mod allows the tuner to 'adjust' where the main comes in. Look for an air bleed maybe 1/2" away from main jet--towards the front of the bike. What RPM are you runnin' @ 60mph? What do the plugs look like?

I know a few guys who had this problem.
One of em had to rebuild the carb completely (don't know if he had to do that but, he did).

The other guy just got pissed and bought a Mikuni; He's happy now.

I agree, there are no issues about reliability with Miks.
I'm not pointing the guy in anyway to what to use.
I'm just tired of hearing guys whine about their S&Ss

thanks mother, at 60mph im at 2800rpm the plugs look white around the middle, but black around the outer . (from running around with the choke on) my carb does not have an adjustable air bleed yet, but im considering it. the air bleed hole looks un-molested, and the carb looks like new. i want to try removing the davinci style booster first, to see if that changes anything .

... japanese carbs ?? im not riding a yamaha.

Generally if I were to pull in clutch and kill motor at same time without letting off of throttle and drift to side of road pull plug and see white tip I would without thonking twice go up one size on main jet.

thanks - but ive tried this, and tried every main jet from a 68 to 84.
but still the same problem. ive changed the slow jet from a 280 - 295 - 320. seems like the main jet isnt starting early enough.
if i could go everywhere at 85mph it wouldnt be a problem. i think i will try getting my carb drilled for an changable air bleed jet. and jet the air down some.

Get with Bob @ Triple X Carbs http://www.xxxcarburetors.com/productpage.html This was the best move I have made with my carb. I have run the S&S for years. With my current set up the bike pulls like a frieght train to 6400rpm and cruises around @ 2000rpm with NO issues. Bob bored my 'E', added a thunderjet, installed air bleed mod(adjusting when main comes in) along with a few other mods. All i can say is WOW. Throttle response is razor sharp. he has like 3 day turn around and at no charge polished all the hardware(fuel inlet fitting, throttle plate). Carb looks as good as it performs. Contact Bob Maltz even for advice.
